Re: Website style disconnect

2012-12-20 Thread Samer Mansour
I would think this will distract us from our simpler mission, which is to
promote open office. It can also be a bit of a double edge sword in the
sense that if we are promoting another project and that project isn't
received well, it could tarnish our brand or imply something about us which
is not true.

Re: OpenSource --- Marketing Cover Art

2012-12-20 Thread Kadal Amutham
Dear Mr. Dale Turner,

I am another volunteer like you. As you may aware, a new logo is being
planned, and a redesign of the landing page of OpenSource.org is being
planned. To start with you can come out with good logo. I have attached a
logo just to kindle your creativity. Can you give web link to " well
established samples of good design and art work"?

I remeber art had already some seasoned logos.

Also there are some ideas from the firefox people
http://www.accessfirefox.org/Mozilla_Holiday_Graphics.php

Could easily be adapted to OO sphere logo.

This is the old logo I had with the Xmass add-ons.

Why not? Feel free to propose enhancements. We have three suitable DIVs
in the HTML code, "bannerleft", "bannerright" and "bannercenter" where a
small decoration could be placed. This would then be automatically
applied to all pages.

When you have a mockup, please send it to the main mailing list
(ooo-dev) too, since it will impact the whole website and everybody
should be aware of it.

2012-12-20 Thread Kadal Amutham
Just a loud thinking. Why promote only openoffice? Why not other open
source software like Ubuntu? I try this technique to switch completely from
licence world to licence free word. ( Still,it is hard to find acceptance.
As already mentioned, there is no option of telling "Buy One Get Two"

Re: [PROPOSAL] New Apache OpenOffice 4 logo proposals.

2012-12-20 Thread Paul D'Arcy
It's a fine logo, but I would have to agree with the other comments. I do
like the idea, however.

Perhaps a shape other than a square could be used? Within the globe, there
are four wings. They could possibly be altered to represent the four
corners of the office suite?

Kind regards,

Paul D'Arcy
