If you look again at what I quoted above my reply, I meant that there is
also http://journal.gnome.org/stats =)

I tried to help Davyd with the last one, and would be happy to lead it
this time, perhaps also in order to compensate for the minimal amount of
time I managed to dedicate to my modules along the past few months. ;)

We'll have some more work than for the last release due to nobody having
cared to keep http://live.gnome.org/TwoPointFifteen/ReleaseNotes
updated, but nothing that a little work with the eventual help of a
couple of announcements won't do.

I'd love to help here too, but don't think I'd have time for both. I'll
try to help here as much as possible, but would rather not promise
anything, at least for now.

I am not much into this CMS thing, so I regret not being able to suggest
something absolutely certain of its capabilities and advantages.
However, I've already seen and faced all kinds of problems with drupal,
from security to upgradability issues, which IMHO do not make it the
best option to set the infrastructure of a website we want to keep
around for long on.

And I did not make it clearer because I've already exposed this concern
to qgil in the process of setting up drupal for guadec.org.

Since I have known GNOME, one of the main goals was to make users
comfortable, and one of the most uncomfortable imaginable things for a
person is to have to communicate in a language they do not master or
which is not their mother tongue. The Catalan users have a different
culture, a different language, have people with whom they can
communicate in it, have GNOME translated into it: it is somewhat their
right to have a mailing list in which they can use it freely.

I will be more than happy to set it up.

National and regional press contacts

2005-12-20 Thread Guilherme de S. Pastore
Hi,

I think it would be great if we could have a Brazilian regional press
contact listed on http://www.gnome.org/press/ - there is, however, no
"group" e-mail address to which it can be pointed, as we are still
trying to form GNOME-BR.

I wondered, then, if I myself could be added to the list. As
marketing-list is said to be the contact for that, here I am. What are
the requirements?

Regards,

I would love to have one as soon as we have people to work on it. It is
meant to be "anything GNOME-related you can think of" or something like
that, heheh.

Local group name

2005-12-16 Thread Guilherme de S. Pastore
Hello all,

we are in the process of assembling a local group in Brazil, whose job
would be generally representing GNOME in the country, gathering users,
guiding potential developers, etc.

We were thinking about our names and got a doubt... "GNOME-BR" or "GNOME
Brasil"? We do not really have strong reasons to tend to one or other,
so we thought about asking for advice from the people who are more
experienced in this, in the hope that we can find what would be most
suitable and appealing.

What do you think?

Cheers,
