I don't feel comfortable to launch a campaign if we end up with
disappointed people because our processes don't work out well.

I'll let Emmanuele answer this one directly, but I know he's been working
on improving this. With Tobi's help, we conducted an audit to make sure
that we responded to people who donated to us already. At the same time,
we're planning to try to improve things more systematically too, on which
I hope to have an update for everyone soon.

True. Neither do I.

As of now, nothing has changed, really. I called for someone to help
with some web bits here:
https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-web-list/2012-September/msg8.html
but no one answered. So things are moving slowly. But eventually, we'll
have something simple soon, that makes the process more smooth than
today (which is not hard to do ;-) ).

I wouldn't wait with a campaign though. We get donations frequently, so
whether we have a campaign or not doesn't really matter for improving
things, because people occupying themselves with running the campaign
usually don't work on the technical side of things.

So yeah, it's not comfortable but not running the campaign doesn't
make things more comfortable.

That said, if there is anyone willing to help with either the web side
of things (i.e. I think with the Wordpress migration we lost the ability
to select a yearly payment scheme) or with integration or nicer payment
methods than Paypal, or the above mentioned automatic donors list
generation, or anything else, really, is welcome to write me (either
here or off list).

Cheers,
  Tobi

scheduling FoG campaign call

2012-11-19 Thread Karen Sandler
hey all!

I set up a dudle survey so we can hopefully find a time early next week to
talk about the next Friends of GNOME campaign. If there's a time that
works I can set up a dial-in number so we can all actually talk to each
other :)

https://dudle.inf.tu-dresden.de/GNOMEmarketing/

The times are in UTC, and I've chosen 15:00 to 21:00 as the range which is
I think:

4pm to 10pm Central European
10am to 4pm East Coast
7am to 1pm West Coast

I hope that's not too confusing!! If we decide what to do on that call,
perhaps we can launch the campaign during the next week and have all of
December for that holiday spirit fundraising!

best,
Karen
