[Matplotlib-users] canvas/subplot -- finding the value of data at the extremities of the plot

2007-02-23 Thread maser rati
Hello Folks,

I was wondering what would be the best way to approach this issue: in a
subplot that displays a data plot, is there any way of finding what the first
and last points of the data plots are; i.e., when I use the pan function in the
toolbar, it would be great to know which data points are at the extremities.
For e.g., considering a data set x[0]...x[50] in a subplot I have the first
data point x[0] as 2 and the last data point, say x[50] as 8. What would be the
best way to pass on these values to a function, that did something like print
on the screen Hey, the data value at the left most location of this subplot is
2 and the data value at the right most location of this subplot is 8.

 Pointers would be appreciated.

 Thanks.
 iyer

[Matplotlib-users] Question about the Matplotlib classic Toolbar - the pan feature to display only existent data..

2007-01-31 Thread maser rati
 Hi folks,

reposting... has anyone a clue that might help in the right direction??

was my question too hard or would it help better if I rephrased it ?

I was wondering how to set the Matplotlib classic Toolbar in order to display
only existent data when the back/forward arrows are clicked (i.e, the pan
feature) for a subplot that displays plotted data.

How to set the code in the matplotlib toolbar to only display the data from
the file? ( clicking the left arrow when the left most point is at the start of
the data file should result in freezing of the plot and a similar action when
the right arrow is clicked when the right most point is at the end of the data
file).

I'm not sure if my post was sufficiently as clear as spring water. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 Great forum, by the way..

 Thanks.

[Matplotlib-users] Runtime Error on running matplotlib examples pythonic_matplotlib.py, cursor_demo.py, etc .. (Pythonwin 2.4 crashes)

2006-12-27 Thread maser rati
Hi Guys,

I'm a new user of Matplotlib and am very impressed by its plotting capabilities.

I have the latest version of Matplotlib and Numpy 1.0 running on my Win 2000
system with Python 2.4.

On running the pythonic_matplotlib.py,cursor_demo.py etc.. in Matplotlib
examples in the Pythonwin interpreter, the program runs fine, the tk window
shows up and when I close the window by way of the 'x' on the right hand side,
it closes fine.

But however, when I reload pythonic_matplotlib.py, and run it again (by
pressing F5), the tk window shows up, but the all the functions on the toolbar
do not work. When I press the 'x' on the right hand side of the window, it
shows the following message and Pythonwin crashes.

Runtime Error!

Program: c:\Python24\Lib\site-packages\pythonwin\pythonwin.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information

I was wondering what the issue could be.

Your response is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Maser
