Re: [PATCH] Properly dispaying log files from /var/log

Maybe a more solid path would be to use the `type' functionality in
 mc.ext.in to flag troff files.

Or extend the script to use `file' and if it matches `English Text' or
does not match `troff' not treat it as a man page.

We are aware of this. We would love to use file -z instead of file
to use type for most cases, but sadly file is buggy with respect to
bzip[2] files. So we do need some work arounds until file gets fixed. A
real solution is on the TODO for 4.6.2 or 4.7.0 (maybe not written down
there yet, but discussed as such on IRC and on this list I believe).

Yup. Andrew, could you please also post these patches for CAN
vulnerabilities here? That would come in handy :) .

I extracted the relevant patches from
http://security.debian.org/pool/updates/main/m/mc/mc_4.5.55-1.2woody5.diff.gz .
See attached tgz which has patches included for CAN-2004-1004, CAN-2004-1005,
CAN-2004-1009, CAN-2004-1090, CAN-2004-1091, CAN-2004-1092, CAN-2004-1093,
CAN-2004-1174, CAN-2004-1175 and CAN-2004-1176.

Hello,

I have applied this patch to the CVS repository with a few changes
(configure.in checks, plus made sure that the style matched the rest of
  the code).

To which branches? Only to HEAD or also to mc-4.6.1-PREsomething?

Only to HEAD, I did not want to step on an already tagged tree.

Restoring the functionality of Alt-o

2005-01-30 Thread Miguel de Icaza
Hello,

A long time ago I added Alt-o as a binding that would help in
navigating directories. The idea is that in one panel you press Alt-o,
and if the selection is on a directory, it will load the contents of the
highlighted directory into the other panel. If no directory was
selected, this was a no-op.

At some point this behavior was removed from mc, and now instead it
just loads the current directory on the other panel, which is not very
useful for navigating anything.

I remember having this discussion with Pavel but I forget the
rationale for it. I would like to get this change reverted in CVS. Any
objections?
