[bug #13734] viewer should save position mode per file

2005-07-18 Thread Oswald Buddenhagen

Follow-up Comment #2, bug #13734 (project mc):

thanks. however, i'd suggest enabling it by default. otherwise 95% of the
users will never get to know this feature. nobody reads the mc man page unless
he has a specific problem - that's the general tendency for gui/tui programs.
so you have to make your features visible and make sure they can be disabled,
not the other way round.

[PATCH] Re: Introducing separate strings for quick bar items

2005-07-18 Thread Roland Illig

This would result in a function like this:

const char *translate_ui (const char *s)

With a simpler name, of course :-)))
I'm just wondering whether __() is fair, or should be treated as it belonged
to glibc private namespace.

[ISO C99] 7.1.3p1: All identifiers that begin with an underscore and
either an uppercase letter or another underscore are always reserved for
any use.

(Similarly for underscore followed by anything.)

So I've chosen gettext_ui() as the name, because I couldn't find any
better one. Please tell me how you would call it.

So you only chop the first *| if the string wasn't translated. I think it's
better to always chop it since then translators can use Ctrl+Space in KBabel
or any other hotkeys to quickly tell that the translation happens to be the
same as the original text (which is quite often in en_GB, but also happens
for other languages). But if the real string doesn't contain a '|', which is
very likely, then omitting the prefix in the translation would also work.

I've done that.

[bug #13842] should handle ansi escapes

2005-07-18 Thread Oswald Buddenhagen

Details:

for example the Linux-PAM documents in text format contain ansi escape
sequences for bold/underlined/coloring (dunno what it is; every terminal shows
something different :). i think it would make sense if mcview interpreted the
basic sequences, just like it does with bold and underlined by use of
backspace.

Feature request: Changing colors

2005-07-18 Thread Efim
Hmm... First of all I'd like to say Hallo to all of MC developers.

Then I'd like to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS PROGRAM!!! I've been using MC
for nearly 3 years
and I really like it.

But there is one feature, IMHO, MC must have. This feature is changing colors
of text, panels and
of editor's screen and text. I wrote some things using Ncurses, so I can guess
that it's possible
to add this feature. Of course, I don't know SLang at all, but I've seen
sources of MC and
I saw that there are colors definitions. I don't ask you to write a
configurator, it will be good
if you just add such a feature to MC config files...

So, thanks for reading my letter. I hope you'll add this feature in further
releases. Thank you
again.

With a great respect to
you, Efim A. Efim
