Do you see  '[ ] Files only' checkbox where try to select via '+'?
If not - upgrade your mc.

No, there is only one line whith the *.
My MC-Version is 4.6.1 is there a newer apt-package for ubuntu 8.04
somewhere?

There are some pre1 packages that I've built here:

https://launchpad.net/~zyv/+archive/ppa

However, the are already somehow outdated and I'm going to sync with
Debian once they get the pre3 packages out. 

I've missed pre2 because I was on the move and Winni was on holidays as
well so sorry, no pre2 for Ubuntu ATM.
