Job Description

 

The Software Engineer is responsible for assisting with the design, 
implementation, and requirements gathering of business critical web 
applications and systems in an N-Tier architecture using Java, MySQL and 
Tomcat. Typically, the Software Engineer is given a set of functional 
specifications and a technical architecture and is expected to develop 
technical specifications and supporting code. The Software Engineer has 
experience in the design and implementation of complex technology 
infrastructures. This position reports to the Director of Software Engineering.

 

Responsibilities:

· Develop code using lightweight JavaEE components and the Spring 
Framework to be deployed on a Linux / Tomcat Application Server 

· Design data models and develop programs to access and interact with 
relational databases 

· Refactor, document, and propose solutions for improving existing 
legacy code 

· Setup and develop scripts to manage application environments 

· Coordinate with the operations team to maintain our development and 
production infrastructures and to deploy new releases 

· Troubleshoot application issues related to infrastructure or 
networking 

· Work with the Production Management & Product Development team to 
help in the gathering and documentation of requirements 

· Develop Use Case Models for the functional requirements 

· Develop unit tests and assist with application quality assurance 

· Adhere to development standards and participate in code reviews 

· Investigate and research new technologies, frameworks and 
methodologies 

· Recommend creative solutions to business issues

 

 Requirements:

· Minimum of 4 years of experience in n-tier application development 

· Minimum of 4 years experience in Unix environment (Linux preferred) 

· Minimum of 3 years experience in Java and JSP development in a Java 
application server environment (Tomcat preferred) 

· Strong knowledge of the Java programming language. PHP knowledge a 
plus 

· Experience in front end web languages (HTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, 
JavaScript) 

· Experience developing web content management systems a plus 

· Experience working with design patterns and Spring application 
framework 

· Knowledge of development "best practices", particularly with Java and 
database development 

· Knowledge and experience in working with relational databases, 
particularly MySQL 

· Knowledge of scripting in a Unix/Linux environment (grep, perl, bash, 
sed, awk) 

· Knowledge of basic networking (http, ssh/scp, telnet, ftp/sftp, dns, 
smtp, ping) required 

· Knowledge of web security, including https, XSS and web vulnerability 
scanning a plus 

· Ability to select best methods and techniques for solving problems 

· Ability to pick up and understand loosely documented legacy code 

· Strong interpersonal skills, ability to meet timelines and work under 
pressure and strong analytical/problem solving skills are also required 

· Exceptional team work as well as being self-motivated to work under 
own initiative

assignment is to come up with a User Interface (GUI) in asp.net that integrates 
currently existing MS Access databases and their front end functionalities. The 
UI should be easy to use, fast to interact and be able to handle large amounts 
of data in excel grid format. Specific emphasis on working with asp.net in 
conjunction with MS Access 2007 as database is highly desired. The candidate 
should have good communication skills, be an expert in asp.net, MS Access and 
other front end technologies.

This position for asp.net developer will work closely with AMMO's (AGGREGATED 
METADATA | Management & Operations) data analyst. The purpose of this 
assignment is to come up with a User Interface (GUI) in asp.net that integrates 
currently existing MS Access databases and their front end functionalities. The 
UI should be easy to use, fast to interact and be able to handle large amounts 
of data in excel grid format. Specific emphasis on working with asp.net in 
conjunction with MS Access 2007 as database is highly desired. The candidate 
should have good communication skills, be an expert in asp.net, MS Access and 
other front end technologies.

Experience in most (preferably all) of the following:

o   JavaScript

o   AJAX

o   HTML (4 & 5) and XHTML

compatibility

Working knowledge of IIS (preferably 7 or 7.5)
