·         Information Technology & Service (IT&S) has the remit to
facilitate best practice within all aspects of the company’s business
through the delivery of digitalized solutions.

·         Upstream IT&S is comprised of a highly skilled group of
individuals who work together in virtual teams to drive digital solutions
for all of the Upstream business.

·         The Upstream business undertakes activities such as oil and
natural gas exploration, field development and production and
currently has interests
in 28 countries. The main areas of activity include the USA, UK, Norway,
Canada, South America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.



*Desktop Deployment:*

*The company is embarking on a major desktop platform upgrade across its PC
fleet. The upgrade will comprise new PC hardware for any obsolete equipment
and the migration of the operating environment from the existing Windows XP
standard to Windows 7, Office 2010 and Internet Explorer 8. The existing
Platform and toolset is nearing end of life and the company must ensure that
all of its clients are on the current industry supported platform by mid
2014. This is the first major platform upgrade since the company’s Passport
in 2004 / 2005.*



The upgrade will provide the Businesses with a toolset which is more secure,
more resilient and more powerful than the existing toolsets. The look, feel
and user interface of the environment is significantly different from XP.



In Upstream, the upgrade will require a comprehensive management of change
programme.



*Remediation* - there will be an applications remediation and technical
integration programme of work across the Segment to prepare and make ready
the Upstream applications portfolio and desktop environment for deployment.
This programme of work will require input from Upstream IT&S, the applications
and environment support vendors and the business community. Upstream IT&S
will be required to own and manage the remediation activity.



*Deployment *– central IT&S (GOI) will provide a deployment offering. This
offering will require candidate sites and user groups from the business to
be promoted for deployment scheduling. The readiness of sites and user
groups will be determined by their client profile type and associated
applications assurance / remediation status. The deployment planning and
management of change disciplines will require a programme management
function to be provided by Upstream IT&S. This role will be the enablement
interface to the central deployment offering.



*Responsibilities*

*Remediation and Testing for applications in use by Houston:*

·         Adherence to and the delivery of the appropriate Capital Value
Process framework to support the programme of work

·         Stakeholder management – including the Business, central & site
Upstream IT&S, GOI (Global Operations and Infrastructure)  (BAU support and
the project) and the involved external vendors

·         Establish and maintain an appropriate governance process for the
remediation activity to allow effective and timely decisions to be made ,
risks to be assessed and progress to be tracked

·                         Application portfolio validation – holistic and
site level

·         Co-ordination of application testing against the Voyager build
across the Segment – includes central and site testing dentification and
execution of any required scripting / packaging across the applications
portfolio

·                         Identification of any required remediation options
for those applications which fail testing – these include:

o      Upgrade of the application to current version – quantification,
optimization of license purchase and implementation

o      Appropriate virtualization / “kiosking” of the application (centered
on the Citrix platform). Such kiosking will include planning for scheduled
remediation at a later but proximate date

o      Application rationalization of retirement (if possible and practical)

·         Management of the appropriate ADAM vendors and contracts to effect
the required activities

Quantification of the impact on migration of the MS Office files across the
fleet (i.e. complex Excel macros and other VB based “applets”)

·         Planning and execution of any supporting proactive or
retrospective activity to support the conversion of MS Office files noted
above to the new environment

·         Act as a Houston site interface for the GOI central applications
assurance initiative – includes contribution to learnings and continuous
improvement

·         Produce supporting status, tracking and reporting to both GOI and
Upstream IT&S to inform readiness position; scheduling opportunities and key
issues

·         Produce management information summaries as required by the
Upstream IT&S Programme Office and LT (Leadership Team)

*Deployment for Houston non-region based users:*

The following activities and responsibilities are required elements of
deployment:

·         Adherence to and the delivery of the appropriate Capital Value
Process framework to support the deployment programme of work

·         Stakeholder management – including the Business, central and site
Upstream IT&S, GOI (BAU support and the project)

·         Establish and maintain an appropriate governance process for the
deployment  activity to allow effective and timely decisions to be made ,
risks to be assessed and progress to be tracked

·         Ensure optimization of the deployment solution, pace and outcome
for the Houston site

·         Assure the GOI deployment solution efficacy and quality on behalf
the Houston site

·         Assure the HSSE aspects of the programme are appropriately
assessed and managed (by either the central or Segment activities)

·         Monitoring of site technical and business readiness

·         Promotion of users at the site into the global schedule ready or
deployment and establishment of the optimal timeframe and pace

·         Collation of all candidate groups and sites to form the agreed
Upstream 2011 commitment to the global Voyager plan

·         Risk management – holistically and assurance of the site risk
management plan

·         Support and oversee the generation of local site deployment plans
and the supporting management of change activities (includes old kit
disposal; training; handover to operations and close-out)

·         Monitor deployment impact at the business level – disruption
during actual deployment; immediately post deployment and the ongoing
performance of deployed users

·         Act as a Houston Site interface for the GOI central deployment
assurance initiative – includes contribution to learnings and continuous
improvement

·         Produce supporting status, tracking and performance reporting to
both GOI and Upstream IT&S – covering end user satisfaction data; technical
integration feedback; key issues; progress and any associated incidents of
exceptions

·         Produce management information summaries as required by the
Upstream IT&S Programme Office, LT & GOI
