The Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA) seeks a Systems and Database
Administrator to join our Management Information Systems (MIS) department.
As our sysadmin, your primary responsibility will be to manage our servers
and applications so as to ensure system availability and integrity.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Day-to-day administration, basic database management, backup,
maintenance, security, upgrade/patch management, and basic good computing
practices.
2. Research server and vendor software to ensure compatibility before
doing upgrades.
3. Familiarity with Group Policy (GPO), Exchange, AD, and Windows Update
Service (WSUS).
4. Interact with vendors to install and troubleshoot applications,
servers, and software environments.
5. Create and maintain documentation of IMA systems and environments.
6. Working knowledge of SQL, data and upgrades.
7. Knowledge of Servers: 2008, 2012, 2012R.
8. Knowledge of Xen and Citrix a plus.
9. All information that applicant comes in contact with is confidential
and may not be disclosed outside of the Indianapolis Museum Art, or
outside the departments that use this information.


Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No direct supervision.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: B.A./B.S. degree in a computer related area
and two to five years related experience and/or training; or a certificate
related to the above skills is a plus but not required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents and procedure
manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to
speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide,
using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percentages. Ability
to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a
variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Be an effective communicator, both in written and verbal forms
* Be a positive team member, working with others to resolve problems
* Accept responsibility for issues as they arise
* Strong orientation to detail
* High degree of self-initiative and motivation
* Able to work with limited supervision and direction

* Microsoft Office Product software familiarity
* Microsoft IIS administration
* Linux, Apache System Administration

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must
be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands
and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand;
walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally
required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or
move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job
include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception, color, and ability to adjust focus.

essential functions of the position.

UP
 -- DPLA's annual competition seeking innovative and endlessly looping uses of

Join our free gif-making workshops
Interested in participating in this year's competition but aren't sure how to

advanced techniques? Look no further! We've enlisted the help of some gif 
experts to teach you how to get started with gifs using open materials and 
beyond.
Workshop #1: GIF-Making 101, Wed, September 21, 3pm – 4pm Eastern
Ever wondered how to make an animated gif? Join gif-making experts Shaelyn 
Amaio (Consultant at Lord Cultural Resources) and Derek Tulowitzky (Web, Social 
Media, and Outreach Manager at the Muncie Public Library) for an hour long 
webinar workshop on how to make gifs using open materials found in DPLA and 
other digital libraries. The workshop will cover what gifs are, how to find 
suitable materials in DPLA and elsewhere, and how to make a simple gif. This 
workshop is the first part of a two-part series leading up to the GIF IT UP 
2016 competition (October 1-31, 2016). Part two will cover advanced gif-making 
techniques. Attendees are encouraged but not required to attend both sessions.
Workshop #2: Advanced GIF-Making Techniques, Wed, September, 28, 3pm – 4pm 
Eastern
Join us for a hands-on, hour long workshop on how to use photo editing software 
to perform advanced gif-making techniques, such as how to use frame animation 
in order to make objects disappear and then reappear, move around, and change 
color. This workshop will be led by two seasoned gif-making vets, Richard 
Naples (Outreach and Education Technical Information Specialist at the 
Smithsonian Institution) and Darren Cole (Web and Social Media Manager at the 
National Archives and Records Administration's Office of Innovation). This 
workshop is part two of a two-part series leading up to the GIF IT UP 2016 
competition (October 1-31, 2016). Part one will provide a basic introduction to 
gifs and the materials used to make them. Attendees are encouraged but not 
required to attend both sessions.
