The MCN Silent Auction is coming up.
Can you top last year's Elvis Mr. Potato Head?

You should try! Prizes awarded for the auction item that brings in the most
cash, and for the
most unusual item.

Come to Atlanta for MCN's annual meeting, November 16-19.
Bring items to be auctioned off
Bid and win items on Friday, November 18.

Items of any sort--seriously useful or cheerfully unrelated to museum
work--that may be attractive to bidders (and carried by airline passengers) are
encouraged. Exhibition catalogues and other institutional publications are
always popular. Equally great and easy to carry are museum bags, clothing, and
other souvenirs.

Think about something you couldn't resist, and bring that.

Donations need not be tangible things--some popular lots in recent years have
consisted of services or special half-price registration for professional
events.

Don't be shy, all you artists and crafters out there! Show off your
photography, paintings, knitting, embroidery, prints or anything else that will
fit into a suitcase.

Show off your creativity and help us raise some bucks!

Auction items will be accepted at the Conference Registration Desk on
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday until noon. You may bid on items throughout
the day Friday, until tables in the Exhibit Hall close at 5:30.

You never know what will be offered, so be sure to get to the Exhibit Hall
during breaks Friday to place your bids. Items will be added throughout the
morning on Friday and the bidding will end during Friday evening's reception.
Be sure to arrive at 5:00 to see how your items are doing and outbid your
competition. Tables will close starting at 5:30 pm. Winners may take items
along or pick them up at the Conference Registration desk on Saturday.

 See you soon!

[MCN-L] MCN Silent Auction in Atlanta

2011-10-11 Thread Misunas, Marla
Getting ready for the 2011 MCN annual meeting next month?
This year our annual Silent Auction will be held in conjunction with the
THATCamp
Kick-off Party Friday night at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, making for an
extra-festive fun time.

Here's what to do:
Bring items to be auctioned off
Bid and win items other people brought
Support MCN's Scholarship Fund

We use the funds from the auction to benefit museum professionals like you,
providing
registration and funds towards expenses. We have many more deserving applicants
each year than we have money-so please, bid early and often and do your best
stealth-
bidding to win! All proceeds will fund next year's scholarship recipients.

Items of any sort--seriously useful or cheerfully unrelated to museum
work--that may be attractive to bidders (and carried by airline passengers) are

money and for the most unusual item. Show off your creativity and help us raise
some bucks!

We need you to make this an event a success!

Auction donations are tax deductible and 100% of all proceeds benefit next
year's scholarship recipients.
