RE: MD: Pre- rec MDs
Luca Somazzi asked: Are pre-recorded MDs different from recordable ones? Yes, they are embossed like a CD rather than magneto-optically recorded, so they cannot be recorded over. I mean, would it be possible to record over a pre-rec? I've never seen one, but the case may have a different hole pattern to recordable blanks, and the disc itself is marked with a code to indicate it is pre-rec. simon - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: MD: Cheap Player only question
Your best bet, is to get a recording deck. You will gain editing capability that you don't have with the portable. You willalso be able to use the optical out to record digitally from the deck to you 722 and get a near perfect copy. Look into the units that have variable pitch and variable tempo, like the Sony 920 deck, or maybe the Sharp unit that has a three CD changer. I am not very familiar with that one, but I was told it had variable pitch control. Paul Johnson wrote: Ok, I'm hooked. I find myself using my Sharp 722 recorder all the time for recording music sessions. However, when I go out to record, I always start with a blank disk (because I don't know in advance how much music I'm going to record). Typically, I only wind up with 20-30 minutes of stuff I want to keep. I would like to be able to dump that material to another minidisk. So here's my question: What are your recommendations for the best CHEAP player only for the purposes of transferring from one MD to another? Thanks in advance. MD: Long Play mode for MD's using Pitch Control?
Anyone any idea if it would be possible to use the Pitch Control (on a machine like the JB920) to store more data on an MD (like the long play mode featured on videos)?? Could you play at say 2x speed on the JB920, record it to another MD using a different recorder (so this should take up half the space), then play it back on the JB920 at half speed using the pitch control. Don't know what kind of impact this would have on the quality. Anyone like to try this?? Gary. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Da: Moran Bentzur [EMAIL PROTECTED] Luca, Luca, Luca ... I'm surprised - such a newbie Q from you ? :) Well actually I AM a newbie... I've entered the MD scene buying my R55 just 3 months ago! :-) Of course you can't write on a pre-rec. pre-rec are like CDs - they use an aluminum reflective layer with a signal pit pattern, while recordables are MO. I imagined something like this, but, hey... you never know. :-) Luca - who's thinking about other stupid questions to ask to the list - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: MD: Terratec DMX Price
Hello, I talked with the swedish distibutor of Terratec soundcards. He wanted 1900SEK for it. The currency converter at www.forex.se says that 1900SEK is ~140GBP, ~420DEM, ~217USD. It seems expencive doesn't it? Yes, very. It's going for 279 DEM in Germany (at Media Markt), But I haven't bought it yet and never might, if all those driver troubles aren't sorted out. Re: MD: Pre- rec MDs
Simon was explaining to Luca, | I've never seen one, but the case may have a different hole pattern | to recordable blanks, and the disc itself is marked with a code to indicate | it is pre-rec. Yes, the case is different as well, missing the second hole next to the write-protect sensing hole on the bottom of the case (neither hole is present in a prerec), letting the player know to adjust laser power for a prerec. Additionally there are codes on the disc, but the unit has to adjust for reading a prerec in order to read those codes. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
