RE: MD: Sony R55CIF

2000-04-15 Thread Daryl O.

Anyone actually have or used a Sony R55CIF (that one they sell at best
buy with the mp3 link) I've seen very little info on this and the retards
that work at best buy are about as bright as the 'q' key on my keyboard.
anyway i was just interested in it, if ya have any info i wouldn't mind
knowing about it.(Matt Wall)

Well, I work for Best Buy, and I'm no retard, so I'll answer your question.
(I don't work in sales, though.) The portable in the R55CIF is the R55CG,
and the only thing extra that it comes with is a USB cord and a
digital-analogue converter/USB-miniplug adapter. NO software is included
with the package, as software isn't needed. One uses the Windows Media
Player to play back the songs, or any other media player. It does, however,
require Windows 98 and a USB out that supports Digital Audio Streaming, a
feature that is *not* supported in early versions of the format (if one has
a PCI USB card, make sure that its specification is USB 2.0). One must
change some settings in Windows in order to playback the songs digitally, so
the music cannot be monitored with one's computer speakers, unfortunately.
The digital audio is converted into an analogue signal that the MD portable
then records.

Re: MD: R90 us version

2000-04-15 Thread Michael Mitchell

I've had mine for 2 weeks now and love it. I understand the noise thing you're
bringing up but
really don't find it that noticeable - with all the talk about it before I bought the
unit, I
was quite concerned. After getting the unit, I was relieved to find that it wasn't
nearly as bad
(IMHO) than others have made it out to be. And the battery life, etc., is just
incredible. Great
unit. But yes, it's normal to hear it scuffle away every 30 seconds or so.

Ooh - it appears Superfi is no more! Check out
http://www.superfi.co.uk

The MZ-R100 was an April Fools joke if you hadn't seen it
already. It had
70,000 hours battery life (due to nuclear fusion cell), lead
carrying case,
optional radiation suit etc. And USB too :-)

 Alas it is no more.

 Chrz,

 Wrighty

Re: MD: sound blaster live value

Mine has digital out, don't know what kind, it just says digital
out. Also, about the sblive value, can it be made to allow recording
from the mike and wave output at the same time, so they mix in one
file? Or can it record more than one thing, so I can record a
netcast and talk on it at the same time without missing any of it?

You cannot record from several sources at one time.
However, there is a setting called "what you hear" for recording,
which will record anything you can hear over the speakers.
So it is possible to enable both wave playback and the mike for
playing, and then recording it.
