Re: MD: An arcane query for MZ-G750 owners
Love the idea! sadly whenever you start the disc spinning by whatever means, it cuts the radio! Apparently the radio uses more power than the disc which I find impossible to believe but there we are! Anyway I guess that means the battery cant support both devices at once. To be fair though if I was going to record from the radio I would want something with a fixed aerial which you could guarantee to provide decent reception. THis one is fine for prtable audio but not really recording quality. Praise-songs performed at these ceremonies are the focus of my research. You'll find that if you record binaurally, you'll end up with some truly stunning recordings. Tony Idarola, the fellow responsible for the Audio Soup Mix series of recordings, does lots of field recordings of the sort you'll be doing. You can contact him at: [EMAIL PROTECTED] . He and his students have been using our binaural mics for years. After asking around, I decided to buy an R37. It seems sturdy and durable enough for my needs. I could have gone MDLP, especially for interviews, but as I'll also bring a laptop and CDRW burner, it should be fine. The -R37 lacks a low sensitivity setting and will tend to overload when hit with even modest sound pressure levels. If there's drumming or percussion involved, it won't do an adequate job. If you must have an MD recorder, I'd recommend any of the Sharps (MD-SR60, MD-MT90 or MD-MT877), or if you prefer Sony, the MZ-R900 (and no other Sony). Now, the mic situation isn't completely solved. It seems a lot of people are using ECM-MS907s. Looking at the specs and listening to recordings made with similar mics, these don't offer good enough lower range response (rated from 100Hz). It seems the 957s and 959s go down to 50Hz which would be ideal. Any idea where I could find either of these for cheap? They don't appear on eBay much. We have two short files that compare our mics to the -MS907 an -MS957. Feel free to ask for them. I hope that this helped! MD: MZ-R70 kills a disc...
For the second time, my MZ-R70 has inadvertantly messed up a disc. The first time (a few months ago), I apparently activated the record slider as I removed it (in its Severed leather pouch) from my belt. It proceeded to overwrite the rest of the disc with a single blank track. So this would not happen again, I decided to do take 2 actions: (1) turn on the hold switch before putting the MZ-R70 in the pouch and (2) setting the write protect tab on each disc. Last night, it stuck for the second time, destroying the UTOC on a second disc. In this case, I had the hold engaged, so none of the unit controls whould have been active. Unfortunately, I did not have the write protect tab set. (Although I usually remember, I frequently add tracks to existing discs, so once in a while I forget; this was one of those times.) Starting from where I had stopped playing, it overwrote silence with many track marks. When I discovered this, I turned off hold and started to erase the superfluous tracks. After the first one, it churned for a while and said disc err. When I got home I tried the disc in my JE520; it said C13 and C14 disc err and ejected the disk, so I guess its so screwed up it can't be reused... I think I'll look into buying a play-only portable to replace the 'EP11 that was ripped off a while back. Using a portable recorder as a player seems to be to risky! - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I admit I still use windoze because i'm forced to still do some things in Visual Basic. But for most programs there are other OS equivalents. I don't know about you, but ALL my friends and family run Windows. Even acquaintences that I meet run Windows. What are the stats now, 85% of all PC users run Windows? Most software in the store and most new shareware is also for Windows. Even my friend that's big into Linux owns a Windows box. Hi, What is the least expensive binaural mic that you sell? And do you make your own mics? It kinda sounds as though you do. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
