From posts I've seen in the past, you are wrong. THe other posts seem
to indicate the Sony D-355 does indeed have optical out. So who are we
to believe? What does the manual say?

The D-365 has no optical out, thats why it doesn't seem to work. It is a
simple line out, why would it be sold in places for $45.00 if this was not
so, the cheapest you'll find a portable with opti out is probably about
 $100.

  hello,

i have a big question for you. I have had an Sony portable minidisc for 2
years now and i've got an sony discman d-365 with optical output, but...
 the
optical output of my discman d-365 doesn't seem to work. my question for
  you:

How do i activate my optical output of my discman d-365, by pushing a
combination of buttons, by hooking the unit up to 220 V, and what kind of
  cables do i need ?!?

Re: MD: Unmatching impedance

2001-05-13 Thread Jim Coon

Going lower than recommended can damage equipment. Higher impedance
generally won't harm anything. There may be some fidelety issues, but
it sholdn't damage anything AFAIK.

I changed the alternator and main fan belt in my car last week. But I suppose
that old people are supposed to know how to do that kind of stuff. As long
are there are no buttons that you have to push and the plugs can only go in
 one way G.

So, does that make you an AC/DC type of guy? Grin

My daughter changed her own radiator and serpentine belt as the
neighbors looked on with amazement. A few months later, her boyfriend
ran into something. She drove the car and when it started to overheat
in a residential area 10 miles from home, she noticed the accident had
driven the fan shroud into the fan keeping it from turning. She asked a
guy that was mowing his lawn if she could borrow some tools, and
proceeded to take the fan shroud off so she could drive the car home.

I'm still having trouble turing her on to MD though. She has a CD
player in her car instead, and a new boyfriend.

Re: MD: sec: unclassified LP to MD

Cool Edit will do that but it isn't free unless youcan find the demo
program they had a few years back. I think it was called Cool Edit 96
demo. THere are probably others that work too.

With all this talk of Vinyl it's about time I copied my small collection of

reduce the clicks, pops and general noise?

 Many thanks
