MD: JVC XM-PX5 Player problems

2001-06-06 Thread L K

I've had my md player for over 18 months now and its
been playing quite well. However over the past month
or so, its been acting up a bit. Its started getting
a lot of read errors and not being able to detect some
discs or getting TOC errors. Also sometimes when its
playing, it'll just skip for no reason. I would be
sitting down, would not have touched the md at all,
and the music would stop all of a sudden for no
reason. Sometimes it will start again after 3 seconds
by itself, but sometimes it will not restart playing
even if i press stop and try to start it again. To
try to get it playing again i'd have to eject the disc
and reinsert it, sometimes getting a Read Error.

Does anyone know what could be the problem and if
theres anything i can or should do?

Thanks

MD: Skipping on MD's

2000-03-22 Thread L K

Hi all,

I bought a JVC XM-PX5 md player from hongkong just
over 2 months ago. And i'm quite happy with its size
and weight. however, i'd just like to ask about how
much other Md players skip when walking. basically i
find that my player skips *A LOT*
normally i just keep it in my trouser pocket, and i
dont believe i walk fast, but in my larger pockets,
the md does swing a lot, and even walking on flat
ground, the md skips, and stops playing until i take
it out and just hold it when i walk. i find if i hold
it in my hand while walking or running then its fine,
only when i have it in my pocket does it skip.
is there anything i should do that can stop it
skipping so much?
or is my md just not working right?

thanks

MD: 240 V

2000-01-06 Thread L K

I'm going to buy my first MD, a Sony Mz-R91 from Hong
Kong for use in Australia.
I'd like to know whether its better to buy the 110V
japanese version or the slightly more expensive
Hongkong version which is 220V.
However australia uses 240V.
is it ok to just get the 110V and use some converter
to change it to 240V?

thanks

MD: SoundTrack DIGITAL I/O BOARD for SB Live(Made by HOONTECH)

1999-12-15 Thread L K

Hi

I'd just like to ask some questions about this card
for the soundblaster Live! value.
Is there a way to use the Coaxial out to record
digitally?

would someone like to explain to me the differences
between coaxial and optical? are they like both
digital?

i'm considering buying a md deck to record.. any
suggestions for easy to use ones that I would be able
to find in Hong Kong?

thanks
