MD: . is this a good mic
Hello- I've been looking at a mic that can plug into a portable MD recorder. This is what I've found so far. Does anyone have this? Are you happy with it? http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=sonecmds70pSVBName=214 - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: MD: . is this a good mic
Payvand, I too looked at this microphone (along with many others). The frequency response (100-15000Hz) of this model is the reason I decided to look for another mic. A response beginning at 100Hz is not what I would use if I ever intended to record live music. If you think of it in terms of frequencies corresponding to the tones of the equal tempered scale, this mic (according to the specs) would transduce the frequency of 103.831Hz (G# 2), but not G2 with a frequency of 98Hz. By the way, pianos produce frequencies as low as 27.5Hz (A0). Since I can't predict exactly what will and will not be recorded (data retained) once the data compression begins, I made the decision to search for a mic (moderately priced) that would provide as much information (lower frequencies) as possible. It is just that the response is lower at those frequencies. Ohhh, thanks. - To stop getting this list send a message containing just the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
