RE: MD: Sony R55CIF

2000-04-15 Thread Daryl O.

Anyone actually have or used a Sony R55CIF (that one they sell at best
buy with the mp3 link) I've seen very little info on this and the retards
that work at best buy are about as bright as the 'q' key on my keyboard.
anyway i was just interested in it, if ya have any info i wouldn't mind
knowing about it.(Matt Wall)

Well, I work for Best Buy, and I'm no retard, so I'll answer your question.
(I don't work in sales, though.) The portable in the R55CIF is the R55CG,
and the only thing extra that it comes with is a USB cord and a
digital-analogue converter/USB-miniplug adapter. NO software is included
with the package, as software isn't needed. One uses the Windows Media
Player to play back the songs, or any other media player. It does, however,
require Windows 98 and a USB out that supports Digital Audio Streaming, a
feature that is *not* supported in early versions of the format (if one has
a PCI USB card, make sure that its specification is USB 2.0). One must
change some settings in Windows in order to playback the songs digitally, so
the music cannot be monitored with one's computer speakers, unfortunately.
The digital audio is converted into an analogue signal that the MD portable
then records.
