I don't know how far your rooms are, but you can get a very long cable, for
only $1 for each additional 10 feet.
It's a chore no more if you have WinRemote and a
Sony
home deck with an IR remote. (and a PC of course :)
Martin's program is just "the duck's nuts", I
wouldn't title any other way.
It sounds like it would be great. Unfortunately, my
MD deck and my PC are on different floors, and the
deck's lcoation makes it a pain to unhook it.
