mainstream pop/rock is concerned? 

Or fewer and fewer.  Since less is only properly used
when speaking of an amount that cannot be quantified. 
Example: less sugar in the bowl; but fewer Minidisc
units on the shelves of your local Circuit City.

No.  Larry is saying that if you plan to make master
copies of your CDs and sell them you will not
necessaruly get the best quality recording from this
unit.  He is using this as an example, and has not
inferred that he supports doing this.
