I had this problem (still do) but only for certain disks.
I also had problems when recording from a digital source where
it added loads of trackmarks and did not copy correctly.

I thought it was dodgy discs at the time but after reading a lot
of replies from the people on the list here I am inclined to believe
that its the Equipment that could be doing damage to the disc.
dont know how/why or how to stop it.

The disks that have the problems also play fine on my portable (MZR-91)
but my Deck (Sony S-38) Id say has seen its final days.
(It also has the phantom eject glitch)

Sorry I could not of been any help but at least you know your not the only
one with that problem.

The exact same thing happened with one of my previous portable players.
Eventually I went for another model, and it went away. The skipping is not
normal. I have only found it on one recorder, and never again.
