2、mic-image-creator --config=tablet-ia32-oaktrail.ks --format=liveusb

3、dd if=./rpmmeego-neolite-tablet-oaktrail-1.2.0.20110718.1316.usbimg

4、Usb Boot-Installation Only-appears saying:

Hope that helps.

[MeeGo-dev] missing dist-upgrade path on major releases

2011-07-18 Thread Stefan Kost
hi,

there is a long standing bug
https://bugs.meego.com/show_bug.cgi?id=9205
regarding a missing upgrade path for new major releases. Why does MeeGo
want to be special here (technical/legal/other issue)? I'd really like
to know, the current status is quite embarrassing.

Is there a practical intermediate solution available? Like installing
all updates and then updating the repositories to change the 1.1. to 1.2
in the repo url and running a dist-upgrade?. Has anyone tried that?

[MeeGo-dev] ARM: new cross-distro@ list

2011-07-18 Thread Steve McIntyre
Hi folks,

Many GNU/Linux distributions are doing some ARM porting; this tends to
result in work duplication, and there doesn't seem to be a general
purpose forum to bring ARM porters together.

We're inviting developers of GNU/Linux distributions with an interest
in ARM to join a new cross-distro list, hosted at Linaro:

   http://lists.linaro.org/mailman/listinfo/cross-distro

Any ARM Linux / Free Software discussion is welcome on the list, for
instance porting software to build on ARM, toolchain problems, dealing
with new ABIs, Thumb-2, NEON, kernel problems, announcement of new
tools etc.

We're working on bringing solutions in the long term.

The focus for 1.3 will be on utilizing the btrfs features we can
easily enable: Device reset (factory reset) will be possible, and the
shell installer will be able to install into a new btrfs subvolume on
an existing installation - effectively saving all your data (and
potentially even your OLD os install as well as a bonus).

Doing a in-place OS upgrade is probably something we'll not work on,
as there are too many risks involved. zypper dup works good, but,
the nature of rpm updates outside the tested update path is almost
always guaranteed to give problems.

Well still not sure what you have as a platform? is it a oaktrail? where
did you get it from?
Regardless, if it is Moorstown based, you don't want to use liveusb.
For a mrst kernel try -f mrstnand and for a oaktrail use -f livecd with
mic.
Any more help is going to require you giving more information about the
platform.

[MeeGo-dev] The road from bugs to patches to integration

2011-07-18 Thread Gary Birkett
Hi,

I have been following and attempting to fix a number of bugs.
There is one in particular which I have identified and fixed on my device.

https://bugs.meego.com/show_bug.cgi?id=20099
[CE] Calculator crashes after pressing any button and then .

This bug is trivial in effect and would serve as a good test case and way of
working through bugs.

Since the bug was in a QML component, there was no barrier to entry for
identifying the problem.
No SDK was required and no complex debugging required other than modifying
the QML on device and adding some debug lines.

Now, this one line patch sits there in the bugtracker.

Since this bug will not be the only one of its kind, is there a simple guide
which can be followed to now progress this bug?
The obvious simplest method is to just offer a merge request to the
gitorious repository, however the N900-CE version appears to be different to
the MASTER.

Since N900-ce version does not appear to be on gitorious I imagine it will
require use of my community OBS.

Can we get the steps to fix this book documented in a sequence from new OBS
account to integration somewhere so myself and others can offer similar
patches?

BR

 Hi,

According to build.meego.com, the Trunk kernel-adaptation-pinetrail
currently has this driver disabled:

See:

http://build.meego.com/package/view_file?file=config-genericpackage=kernel-adaptation-pinetrailproject=Trunksrcmd5=31a61c5542a6fdc9345f17fc050ed48d

- # CONFIG_USB_XHCI_HCD is not set

If you require USB3.0 for your hardware, you should consider filing a
feature request to have this enabled.

Alternatively, you can compile a kernel with this enabled yourself as well.
