[MeeGo-dev] How to sync with the network time server in meego?

2011-05-25 Thread danny
Hi all,

I want to know that could we sync with the network time server in our MeeGo OS?

Does we have one public NTP server? or we should use our own server?

Or are there some other way to finish this work?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

What is your issue?
There is an ntp.meego.com server, and it works well, and it's written on
my default netbook install into the /etc/ntp.conf

Hi,
then (if i understand you well), just install the ntp package, it has
also the mentioned ntp.conf file.

See the package here:
http://build.meego.com/package/show?package=ntp&project=Trunk

Re: [MeeGo-dev] How to sync with the network time server in meego?

2011-05-30 Thread steven
Hi,

as for NTP, I remember that timed middleware also support NTP, and this
middleware is included in meego compliance group, so I think if we want
to use NTP time, we should use timed's interface for future compliance.

Thanks

timed is not part of compliance! It's on it's way out, at least the
exact usage of it is.

connman does all the right things around ntp...
it's the component that knows that you have networking, and dhcp tells
connman what the time server is..

did you mean meego will remove timed package in the near future?

ntp synchronization is currently (in Trunk) being done by connman - it takes
the dhcp server ntp addresses and spawns a shortlived sync ntpd process.
