Patricia, Yes, I receive the e-mail version. While it is an excellent tool, it should be just that. There should be a wide variety of "tools" used to communicate with members and non members / future Galloway owners about this breed. Just as a single flat head screw driver can't do everything neither can the e-mail. As this organization approaches and embraces changes to it. It is my hope that we can cultivate "new and additional tools" of communication and advertisement. The Newsletter is a tool that we have used and used pretty good. It is not just mailed to members but to others as well. The web site is excellent for those who are using the internet. I can't begin to say how much I appreciate the Herd book being available on- line. I have only scratched the surface but it's huge! The Grass Farmer is working, but only on one aspect of the cattle and beef industry. I for one would like to see a "historical financial report" of where monies are spent, but a "Proposed budget" of where monies are to be directed. I think it would be beneficial for all the members to see what the "cost of doing business" really is. I would hope that we could devise or describe other areas of the beef industry and how we could spend monies to cultivate buyers & value to the GAlloways as a breed. Starting broadly with a quarterly estimate. Winter / 1 st quarter = NWSS 4th quarter/ Fall is the NILE and the Grazing conference. Perhaps it could be a spring event (when things are greening up we all think of Grazing) It could be a 2nd quarter/ Spring event. Dreaming up something for Summer with the whole membership shouldn't be too difficult. The reason I bring up moving the Grazing conference is that I would have considered attending both it and Kevins event but show prep for the NILE was in my way; and I could guess that maybe someone elses too.
