[MBZ] 115 Headlight trim? How do I separate the plastic from the chrome part?
Is there a way to remove the plastic from the chrome? My car has good chrome but a badly cracked plastic part on the passenger side. I bought a pair of these on ebay but unfortunately, the chrome is not as good as those that I already have. There is a fair amount of pitting on the top of the chrome trim part on the ones I got from ebay. I have been looking at them and trying to determine if there is some trick to taking the plastic part out of the chrome part. Anyone been there and done that? In a worst case senario, you could probably dissolve the bad plastic out of the good rim, and cut the pitted rim off of the bad plastic - YMMV. Re: [MBZ] 115 Headlight trim? How do I separate the plastic from the chrome part?
1. I will put them on photobucket and add a link. 2. The plastic part is relatively loose. I can wiggle it a bit. I just don't know if it is intended to be removable or if it is not. If it is, there must be some trick to it. It there is not, then I need to figure out how to do it without ruining it. Interesting hes having trouble selling it. Interior looks a bit rough, but would probably clean up. California is a funny place for old cars. Re: [MBZ] Anybody there?
Wilton reminds me of my cousin. Both entered the military as enlisted men, both became officers, both were good story tellers, etc. Cousin was an army air corp logistics officer stationed in Britain during WW-2. He was told to get ammunition to North Africa ASAP. The only pilots available were on RR and the only planes available were (B-24s?) deadlined for structural problems. He invited the RR pilots to a party and talked one of the generals into donating his stock of very scarce whiskey. After the pilots got pretty well lubricated he persuaded them to sign a roster for a secret flight the next day. The pilots were very unhappy about where they were going and what they were flying the next morning, but they successfully delivered the ammo and made it back to Britain. After the war, cousin went to Chiang Kai-sheks China as General Marshalls logistics officer; a failed mission as everyone knows. He finished out his career as a personnel officer at MacDill. AFB. Here is info on the B-24s structural problems: http://usaircraft.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=displayboard=generalthread=1445page=2#4354 Gerry PS: Cousins fame has persisted long after his military career ended. After the war, MacDill AFB officers would hunt wild hogs on the Avon Park bombing range when there was no military activity. Cousin would find enlisted men and volunteer them as aides for the hunts; a difficult and dangerous job. One enlistee made the mistake of doing a great job on his first hunt, so cousin volunteered him many times. After discharge, the enlistee became a successful cartoonist and apparently got even with cousin by including his cartoon image in his comic strips that are still being drawn by his son. Cousins wife, a railroad workers daughter from Mississippi; who was very proud of being the colonels lady; would turn beet red anytime someone mentioned that infamous cartoon strip. You can find it in nearly any major newspaper. Look for General Halftrack. He looks just like cousin did. Note: The wild hog sausage from those hunts was some of the best I've ever eaten. Gerry . The 250C with the M130 and twin Zeniths would pull stumps and blow V8s off the line, even with the slushbox. I had a 1970 250C and it was an awesome car. Sadly, like many of its vintage, it had front rocker rot, but it wasn't advanced. I bought it at an auction for the City of Orlando. It was abandoned for overdue parking. After I sorted out the Zeniths it was a badass car. Dan On Mar 26, 2013, at 7:29 PM, Jaime Kopchinski jaime...@gmail.com wrote: Thanks... Re: [MBZ] I Want
I had a 1970 250C silver with black leather, with a sun roof. Great looking car, bought it in 1977 for 3k. But it too had rocker rot that finally killed it. I wish I had the money then to fix it. Sigh. Yeah, its the same M110, but with a carburetor instead of injection. Its a great engine, but I like the fuel injected version more. If I had my choice of the carbureted engines, I'd take the 250C with its M130 and twin zeniths. I like Halftrack, especially the way he put the Lt. Gerry . It is the M1 of grease. It is great for throttle linkages, motorsickle cables, bike cables etc. If you don't have antiseize, it is not a bad stand-in when you need antiseize.
