i like old bicycles but don't collect them. still have too many bikes and parts around as it is i may have it wrong but i remember these as pretty low end bikes, more of the under 100 dollar type than $400. you can get a super nice bike from that era for this kind of money so why buy this? Email is best, but please feel free to call Nelson, at 843-633-1717. --R I like the Raleigh bikes when they were still made in England. I have one from about 1975. It is a lady's bike - Avacado Green - 10 speed - more of a touring bike with the normal non-racing bike type handlebars and fenders, but the narrow road tires. I picked it out for my sister and my mother gave it to her as a present. A few years ago she announced it was no good and she wanted a new bike. Why, I am not sure, as I doubt she ever rides one. However, I bought it from her and it is in my shed. I have yet to ride it as I need to put new tires on it. I had a new aluminum mountain bike so I did not get in any hurry to fix the Raleigh. Howver, my elder son moved to Ottawa a year ago and I gave him my mountain bike to take with him, so now I should fix the Raleigh. And yes, I am secure enough to ride a lady's bike and not worry about what people might think. I have watched the local online sale site for a man's bike of the vintage but they seem to want a lot of money for them. The reason I liked the Raleigh was that it shifted smoother than anything I had ever ridden. The other thing I would like to acquire - used and cheap - is one of the little folding bikes. It strikes me as being something that might be useful. For example, if I needed to launch a boat at the lake when my son was not with me, I could take the truck and launch the boat and drive the truck back to the cottage and park it and then ride the bike back to get the boat. I could toss the bike into the boat and drive the boat back to our dock etc. The little folding bike would take less space and could just stay in the boat until I did the reverse trip when retrieving the boat. I could do it without the folding bike but somehow the little one appeals to me. One of my neighbors came up with a neat little folding bike with a battery and electric motor this spring at a garage sale for $50. That is my kind of deal. [MBZ] OT trucks
I decided a while back that I should upgrade my truck. Part of the reason is it is just nicer to drive something newer that does not need much work. Another part of the reason is that my younger son was driving even older vehicles and I wanted to help him a bit by passing my 02 Supercrew on to him before it was totally worn out. So, I watched the local ads for used trucks for a while and finally decided that used trucks were stupidly expensive and most of the ones for sale have more mileage on them than I wanted. For not a whole lot more, I could buy a new one. The temptation is to buy fancier than one truly needs and I ended up with something more expensive than I wanted but will hopefully keep it a long while and get my money's worth out of it. I got a 2013 Supercrew 4X4 with the 5.0 and 6 speed auto. Not quite a fancy as the previous one which was a Lariat but still pretty nice. Cloth rather than leather and no climate control system but apart from that, lots of good things like the backup camera and satellite radio and built in bluetooth etc. Randy ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

it may be and someone who knows something needs to clarify this. it is selling for a really high price in a market when nice chromo bikes from the late 70s are 99 bucks and less most anywhere. i mean, i paid $250 for a lugged trek 520, so for 400 bucks, i'd be expecting something really high end maybe i'm wrong though and someone who actually knows something will step up and bring us into the light On Wed, Oct 2, 2013 at 1:07 PM, dsereta...@yahoo.com wrote: The Grand Prix is low end but this is a Super Grand Prix. The short nose MB trucks are really unique looking, too bad they stopped selling them in the late '80s? here in the US. It would definitely be cool if they re-issued them with modern equipment! I guess in the '90s D-B decided to focus on their other brand acquisitions (Freightliner ect.). 'Nother case of an author filling in gaps in his knowledge with his imagination. No release lever was triggered, and there was no such lever. Mattocks flung himself in desperation toward co-pilot's open hatch on the right; again, extremely unusual centrifugal/rotational forces redirected him accidently through pilot's hatch on the left. Aircraft likely inverted when mattocks exited. Pilot landed in swamp; one bomb landed in edge of field with parachute in tree; second bomb landed in farmer's field and made deep impact crater.
