Re: [MBZ] An oil question
My newest star car is 2002, and I recall there being a big push in the early 00 to get folks to only put M1 in the engine and trans. Some whooey about sealed for life, but that it was good for the old cars too. I found that it really is good for the old cars, as, even the manual four speed loved the stuff and shifted tighter after a few k on the clock. The R107 has gotten much better using M1, with crisp, yet smooth gear changes instead of the delay and clunk from just three k on the juice. The 300SE has a magic transmission with it, from the burnt out slush box it came with. Swapped in a used with 109k in place of the dead 203k it came with. M1 has it shifting almost like a new car. clay On Aug 23, 2014, at 7:56 PM, Mitch Haley via Mercedes wrote: clay via Mercedes wrote: I used it with no issue in the e300d, or any other Benz from 1972-2002 I thought the electronic five speeds from about 1997-up required the special juice? Yeah, its the subcompact... I kept the price under $15k if I remember correctly. You have to shop around a bit and negotiate. Everyone discounts off the MSRP on the website. There was a package where you get a discount with two attachments. No trailer... I don't need one. I have 1.3 acres... a little smaller! But I didn't need it for mowing, I bought it for other tasks. I need one to mow, but also need to do driveway work at my current house that I will be leasing out as well as the farm. Also it will be great to have to be able to use it to move cars and engines around. I will put a chain on the loader and can load and move engines around with ease. I saw a JD package deal and theirs was about $22k, which seems like their stuff is overpriced. I am figuring Kubota should be in the sub 20k range. I will probably look at the Mahindra as well, I hear you can get a lot more tractor for less money with those but not sure how they measure up to Kubota. Re: [MBZ] Car will start
Exactly. This guy is a hard core dirt bike racer in his mid to late 50s. That little garage the car is in front of is literally full of trophies from his racing career, I kid you not. It's like a shrine. He lives out in a very rural area east of Brooksville, which is in boonies, but very close to a large recreational area the state set up for offroad riding for dirt bikes, 4x4s, etc.. He can't be too terribly dumb, however. When I was there his wife drove up in a very nice Sprinter diesel RV they had just bought the week before. I'm going to call him the weekend after Labor Day if the ad is still up and see if $500 sounds good then. I suspect it will. Good to see you, Van! [MBZ] 124 aux fan
Messing with the kids 93 300D. I evacuated and recharged the AC with my AC machine. The high side was getting way high and compressor shuts off. Aux fans not coming on. I tried jumping the switch on the drier, they do not come up but I can hear the relay click. if I pull the 2 pin plug that goes to the fans and apply power from battery to 1 of the pins, the fans run, if I apply power to the other pin, it shorts. I had thought you would apply power to 1 pin and connect the other pin to ground. I wonder if I got a short to ground since applying power to the 1 pin runs the fans? If I pull the 2 pin plug off the temp sensor or whatever it is on the top of the engine, the fans run on high. I replaced the resistor from one I had from another car and it still did not work, but the one I pulled off the other car seems iffy. So, I am just leaving the plug off the engine for now so at least the fan is running. Of course it comes on as soon as the key is turned on. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com All posts are the result of individual contributors and as such, those individuals are responsible for the content of the post. The resistor (for low speed) is shot. It's by the receiver/dryer, most likely it's cracked. Common failure. Might just be broken or corroded wires, and it's possible the connection in the fuse box came apart, but not terribly likely.
