Re: [MBZ] Beginning of the Trump presidency?

2016-01-09 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Nixon's goons illegally broke and entered democrat office, I do believe,
and stole info.

GEN Petraus shared classified information with a woman who also had the
appropriate security classification, but she did not have the "need to
know". One needs two things to access classified info: correct clearance
and an official duty that require access (need to know). Additionally he
was having an extramarital affair with her.

[MBZ] OT Heat Pump refrigerant charge

2016-01-09 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
One of my heat pumps developed a leak at a joint and all the charge has
leaked out.

Today I have assembled all the tools and supplies to remedy this, with one
exception: I don't have the scale to measure in the correct charge.

Anyone have a thought on what gauge readings I should look for?

Cool here today, about 50 right now, may get up as high as 65.

2016-01-09 Thread Mitch Haley via Mercedes
You don't charge 410A systems by pressure/temperature, you charge by superheat
or subcool (data from a manufacturer's temperature chart).
Usually the best way to charge a heat pump is in cooling mode when it's over
55degrees outside.
If you know the charge weight for your system and lineset, it might be worth
getting a
digital bath scale that reads in 0.1 lb increments and put the can on that.
1/4lb one way or the other won't matter when your total charge is 7-10 lb.

Mitch.

Re: [MBZ] OT Heat Pump refrigerant charge

2016-01-09 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
Mitch,

Thanks, I'm going to use the bathroom scale. I've calculated that I need
8.375 lbs with the line-set, so that's my plan.

I've got the superheat chart, but I don't have the fancy thermometers to
measure the temperatures, so that method is not an option.

[MBZ] Fwd: New messages from URO Parts

2016-01-09 Thread Rich Thomas via Mercedes
So for some reason I get a post on FB from URO parts proclaiming how
great they were, and I commented that the stuff was crap. I get this
response to which I would like to respond seriously, something like
"Thank you for engaging on this topic. I belong to a large group of old
Benz enthusiasts who are keeping cars over 40 years old running and in
good service. Our experience with [list some parts] is that they are
cheap, substandard, and not likely to last reliably for a
reasonably-expected time. Our preferred suppliers have similar
opinions." I might add, "basically cheep chinee crap."

Hi Rich,

I saw the comment you posted and wanted to hear about your experience
with our product. What product of ours have you used? We've completely
revamped our product line and currently have 7 engineers in-house. If
there's an issue you experienced with our product I want to have our
team look into it.

Thanks,

Not unless we ALL turn OFF the indoctrination systems input, and,

Re: [MBZ] New messages from URO Parts

2016-01-09 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
I would agree to that. I would also point out that it’s fundamentally
impossible for their products to be remotely comparable to OEM products when
they are being sold for a fraction of the same price.

Just because they have engineers in-house doesn’t mean they’re using quality
raw materials or manufacturing processes.

I engaged one of their people on Benzworld last year under a similar situation.
When I challenged them to respond to the comments/questions above, they
disappeared.

I would especially challenge them on rubber parts, as these are the easiest to
cut corners on when it comes to raw materials and manufacturing, which I
believe is where you also see the largest disparity in their prices relative to
OEM stuff like Lemforder or others.

I bought a coolant tee for one of my W140s. Fortunately, I never installed it,
as I could tell just by the feel of the material that it was substandard. I
don’t know what I was thinking.

We now have, as a society, become quite dysfunctional in expressing our

Re: [MBZ] Fwd: New messages from URO Parts

2016-01-09 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
I believe they do know what customers think, but are willing to ignore it for
the almighty dollar.

Without revealing too much, I can tell you that they wanted to be a paid
sponsor at Benzworld, but were rebuffed due to the fear of the backlash from
forum members. There’s no love over there for URO stuff, for sure.

[MBZ] Three cheers for Hollywood Fats

2016-01-09 Thread clay via Mercedes
Huzzah, huzzah, huzzah!

After much searching, and finding the really good parts are on the wrong side
of the pond, I have secured exhaust parts for Frosch. I made contact with Gary
to see what he was able to provide, and found that his selection was the same
as anybody else, but better priced than most others, and he stands behind what
he sells.

I went ahead with the online order and when Gary got confirmation, he wants to
know if I screwed up and meant to order a Bosal to go with the Ansa part. I
had not meant to, and Gary was kind enough to amend the order on his side
instead of my having to cancel what I did on mistake and then re-order as I
meant to. Free shipping, fast service and decent prices.

Re: [MBZ] Fwd: New messages from URO Parts

2016-01-09 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
This has come up a couple times on PeachParts with the same appearance and
disappearance of the URO rep. As soon as you start pointing to rampant failures
they disappear. The one I seem to remember most was a trans or diff mount that
was obviously a copy (ie its undersized slightly) of an MB part and thus fits
poorly so it gets beaten against until it fails.
Oh there was somebody with a flex mount failure after something silly like 30
miles that caused thousands of dollars in damage.
Google URO parts failures, good fun, the BMW guys hate them also.

2016-01-09 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
This basically my point, the NFL slandered the Pats all to pieces. They've been
cleared of all wrong doing by a real actual judge but the NFL refuses to admit
it.
A friend of mine is an HVAC engineer who says the NFL's inflation "rules"
basically boil down to "I dunno, whatever" since theres no temperature
specification.
More recently it came out that when they detected the Pats balls were under
inflated and the Colts weren't it was that they brought the cold balls into a
warm room and measured all the Pats cold balls before measuring the Colts (now)
warmed up balls. The Pats balls were all slightly under inflated, the first
Colts ball to be tested was also (very slightly) under inflated, the rest were
fine since they'd had time to warm up...

Don't get me wrong, I watch 1 football game a year merely because a friend
takes us to the Elk's club for the Super Bowl. We like the food and hanging out
with friends.
Tonight while I was not watching television I learned how to wire in a diode.
I'm rebuilding the light I use over my bed at camp converting it from
fluorescent to LED. I'd wired the LEDs in 2 strings with a 3 position switch, I
wanted one position to turn on one string and the other position to turn on
both. I harvested a diode from an old computer power supply to make that work
and I think it would work except I discovered that what I THOUGHT were 6v LEDs
turned out to be 3.6v.
You push 6v (ie 4 D cell batteries in series) into a 3.6v LED and it cooks off
pretty quick, whoops!
I'm curious how bright the LEDs will be at 3v, they were SUPER bright at 6.

Actually, in heat mode, if weather conditions are right you can judge by the
frost on the outdoor coils. About the top third of the coil should be free
of frost. Beware that some models have interleaved coils which start every
few inches. You don't want any liquid reaching the compressor.

Would anyone like to bet that other power companies won't do the same
eventually if not sooner for those who sell power back to them?
Considering that the Florida legislature is one of the most corrupt in the
nation, we can probably depend on them to do it here.

For off-grid systems, the main hope is that non-acid storage batteries will
come down in price after the new manufacturers large plant (Panasonics?) gets
into full operation. This is where Tesla Walls is being produced.

Navy carrier strike group commander sacked for viewing porn on duty –

The commander of the Navy's Carrier Strike Group 15, based in San Diego, has
been fired due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command amid
allegations that he used his government computer to watch pornography.

Rear Admiral Rick Williams was removed from his position on Friday, a Navy
release stated. Williams was relieved of his duties by 3rd Fleet boss Vice Adm.
Nora Tyson after just six months in the position "based on the initial findings
of an ongoing investigation into the alleged misuse of government computer
equipment."

Williams was found to have looked at pornographic images on his government
computer during a routine inspection, according to The Navy Times source.

Would the commander have been fired if the admiral was a man?
