Total guess but I’m thinking the jap car would probably be more reliable over a

The 15 liter engine in my Kenworth is even less a race car going 7000 RPM,
but the much-larger-than-Mercedes turbo it has sure spins up to many tens

Re: [MBZ] OT lawnmower engine

2019-07-28 Thread Clay Monroe via Mercedes
Were that it were only the carb!

I got back to SEA last night and it was too dark to make out the mess that four
weeks of unattended lawn growth was going to be found in the morning. Last
home visit I was confronted with almost waist high grass after near five months
of absence. I came right from the airport in May, and went straight into the
shed to fire up the mower, with a massive reduction in grass. I made a
pilgrimage to ANC and 28 days later… I pull out the plug in mower and the dang
thing does not want to light off. I mess about with the GFCI the cord is
plugged into, take a gander at the fuse box, finding no offending breakers, and
swap out the cord, just in case, as I see the one on the machine has a knick.
I do the safety dance with levers and cords and this thing utters a moo sort of
noise and nothing more again.

Maybe the spiders have become gremlins and I unscrew the cover to find the
Black & Decker 681064-01 Switch has lost a mount. Seems the hot lead had burnt
itself out over many years and now I must put a fresh switch in. In the heat
of the moment I was going to just toss the whole machine in a Goodwill bin.

Re: [MBZ] OT: Compressor water trap?

2019-07-28 Thread Clay Monroe via Mercedes
BTDT in a manner. I was not wanting to pay MAACO lots of cash to paint the SD,
so I figured I might use this as an opportunity to learn vs tossing cash at the
issue.

I have a 29 gallon (non HF) compressor, which I thought would be stout enough
to shoot paint with no trouble. It was a tad small, but did get the task done
with just enough pressure per minute over extended time.

I used disposable filters/traps on the guns, and set up a filter and trap in
the line to keep any moisture from polluting the line. I have normal hose for
tools and purchased a hose for paint only that would not get any moisture in it
to shoot paint and clear. My thought was that the inline unit would trap the
wet from the compressor and the gun end could stop any moistness that might
have had a chance to happen in the line while it was not being used on a warm
day or between warm and not warm days. I did blow the lines prior to hooking
up guns and there was a bit of spittle with the hose end air wand that went
away after two minutes of resolute flushing.

Since both urathane and POR-15 are hydroscopic (sp as to chemical reactions to
moisture) I would think that a dry line would be desired for application of
these products

Re: [MBZ] Why would somebody advertise this as a parts car?

2019-07-28 Thread Clay Monroe via Mercedes
I am. I do not understand their charges, and given the number of times I am
relisting stuff to CL, I was not sure if they were planning to ding me for each
renewal on a weekly basis, or if it was a one time charge, maybe when the
listing expires, they will try to snag another fiver. That dang SD was on CL
for over ten months. That would be lots of five dollar bills

Re: [MBZ] OT - Biomass emissions error

2019-07-28 Thread Clay Monroe via Mercedes
I suspect the point was that CO2 is an insignificant aspect of the total gas
mix and can climb to stupid levels with minimal impact, as the real culprit of
green gas houses is water vapor. Clouds and lack thereof will have more
impact, and there is co-relation, but no obvious causation between increases of
carbon and how it might make more water vapor hang around.

Clouds might create inversion layers, trapping heat. But are more likely to
increase albedo, decreasing solar heating of the ground and oceans. Another
point for carbon is that is is piped into green houses to make the plants
happy. Happy plants trap more carbon. Chopped down trees release more carbon.
Not counting the carbon coming from burning trees is silly, as the same acre
of land will most likely trap the same amount of carbon on an annual basis be
it full of trees or hemp. Thus selling carbon credits for trees is wonky, as
you could just as well sell credits for the hot house tomatoes or corn, or
even soy beans

Stuck float, debris in the needle seat area, etc, would pour it in until the

Wow!!! I didn't know that. You could even put another
hole in the hood and put an up high intake on, no need
for an air cleaner, the air is clean up there. Then you

The finnie is right here in the garage. I’ve got a post I need to do for the
blog, but other than that it’s just sitting for the most part. I drove it to
work last week and drive it around locally. It drives nice with all the new
rubber in the suspension.
