The shifter is loose and the reverse lockout is gone. The mechanic doesn’t want to take the shifter apart because it will make the car unmovable unless you push it. I’d like to get a shifter and rebuild it and then switch them. The problem is now finding a shifter. John I. > On Jun 4, 2021, at 2:43 PM, Jim Cathey wrote: > > How worn-out? I don't remember the MGC being too bad - it was tighter at the firewall, byt I don't have any bad memories from working on them. I was working at a "foreign car garage" putting myself through college in the late 60's, early '70's, and saw a lot of MGs, Triumphs, Jags, VWs, Fiats, Simcas, and the occasional MB and Jap cars. I then came to realize the only thing keeping me inside the open car was my superior olympic strength butt cheeks, firmly gripping the seat cushion. Absolutely no nannies were along for that ride. ahhh.. [MBZ] USPS in action
Ordered a part for my Karmann Ghia last week from a seller in NC. Here is the tracking history. NC -> Cincinnati -> St. Louis -> Memphis -> Cincinnati -> Indianapolis. Yes it transited through Cincinnati twice but not before touring two other states. The efficiency does not seem optimal. It is kind of cool that you can see it all though. Years ago you would just be waiting and wondering. Hoping I will have it today.
