Re: [MBZ] W123 300TD needs RR brake caliper

2021-12-07 Thread OK Don via Mercedes
It's probably to handle the additional weight in the rear - more weight
means it needs more braking power. If you don't load up the rear, the sedan
calipers would most likely be fine, and better than no rear brakes!

How's a 4.3L M113 compare to a W124 500E?
Here we are, 113.943 = 275hp.
500E = 322hp.

An ML55 donor would have been 342hp and no heavier than the 4.3L.

I agree. Nice car and 49 state non-problematic version. Worth $15k on
private sale, maybe $22k at auction.

Re: [MBZ] W123 300TD needs RR brake caliper

2021-12-07 Thread Floyd Thursby via Mercedes

I saw somewhere that he retired or left the CC or something.

Does the EPC cover older 123s?  Go to that and look up the part number
for your wagon and for sedans and see if they are different.

In any case a caliper is about the easiest thing to swap out on a 123,
if you can't chase down an original just get a reman from AA, put it on,
and drive the car.  If it craps out get another one.
