Last covered in Ceconite, and has zero defects that tell me it is failing. Next step, once the FAA registration is cleared, and I own the "N" number, is to do a very complete annual inspection, with all AD compliance brought up to date, along with a wing spar inspection [it has the wood spars it was born with, so 75 yr old, time to have a look like my life depended on it..] Then, fly it... I "Just happen to have a Lycoming 235 engine" which makes almost double the HP of the 65 hp in it now... some time in the future... maybe.. But that is a whole new project... The Champ has been stored inside the whole time, never saw the light of day, and it's Arizona, so very dry, little moisture in the air to make rust. I pulled the prop through, has decent compression, even though the cylinders are likely bone dry of oil. I'll pull the plugs and pre-oil the cylinders, also do what I can to pre-lube the cam and rod bearings. I've seen engines that have been sitting for 20+ years started and flown away - I guess the wear from a flew flights with rusty cam and cylinders won't make it fall from the sky, and you'd be replacing them anyway during an overhaul. All good points, however, current stock market information says Carvana is doing a financial bleed out that can't be stopped. The car market that was so hot has now turned ice cold, interest rates are now into the "I can't qualify for a loan" range, and Carvana paid far above hot market price for their inventory... Inflation has taken a huge segment of the car buying public off the market for the future, short term [90 days], and likely long term [over the next year or more]. If I had a few Billion of FTX crypto currency, I would buy Carvana with it, and donate all the car inventory to homeless shelters for housing for the unhoused, Then take a "Yuuge" tax deduction to the 87,000 newly armed IRS agents... or, not.. My take is, the world economy is in a crack, or is on crack... and we might survive... or, not. You’d have to be close by one to take advantage of it. On another aspect carvana spam ads on CL are like 80% of what I see on there these days. No particular bargains though.
