[MBZ] USPS Gone Astray

We were sharing stories at one time about wildly wrong USPS shipments. I have 
one - an Amazon order for a couple of SO-DIMMs (memory) that are probably in a 
padded envelope. Litchfield Park, AZ, is the location of the closest Amazon hub 
near Phoenix, for reference:

So my SO-DIMMs appear to be making a trip to the East Coast. Interestingly, 
they show (in Amazon) as being our for delivery today, despite it being a

Paint looks a little patinated but could buff out OK, interior not too 
bad, maybe offer 3500 and see what happens.  Not a 107 fan so not really 
interested but for what these things are going for there could be some 
headroom to make a coupla bucks.  If nothing else you could have a 
picnic on the bumbers.


My granddad passed away and left this for me needs a battery 5k obo also 
will entertain trades

I would LOVE to find a nice facelift S500. That’s 1996-99. Black is preferred,

W140s are easy to work on, however, my biggest concern would be parts 
availability. They called out the heated seats in the rear, so that’s the 
second switch.

Concerns with this one would be why it’s sitting low in the back (SLS issue?) 
and seeing the paintwork dry. Otherwise, it looks nice and appears to be very 
fairly priced. Wish I were closer...

The aftermarket video system would be an annoyance to me. Who has video tapes 
anymore, and would want to watch them in the car? I guess you could just ignore

Probably either a conductor plate or ISM, either way maybe $600 in parts to get 
that sorted. The girl selling it is a bit vague, I don’t think she actually 
knows much about it, but for the $$ it’s hard to pass up. In running condition 
this is a $8-9k or more car. And my fave black/black in a coupé, looks fairly 
decent though dirty in the pics. Going Thursday to pick it up, bit of a road 
trip over to Jawja. Could be a deal and definitely an adventure!

Sure, it could be if it's been abused, overheated, way behind on oil changes, 
etc. but if given normal care I would think it's still got a good deal of life 
in it. 169k isn't really that much on a modern engine with modern oils.

I would have to judge as to whether or not it infringed on the originality

see a big value-add with having any kind of permanent video display system in 
the car, unless it's an RV or something with room for a big(er) screen. Those

It probably has RCA jacks to plug stuff into, so any player with RCA 
out, you could get some sort of adapter too that would work. Do some BT

Yeah I'm not even sure what might be wrong with the transmission or if 
that is an accurate diagnosis.  I'll put the computer on it and do a 
quick scan, see what codes are popping up.  For the money though there 
is a fair amount of headroom to work on it or replace stuff.  I'm 
guessing it is nothing too serious but I'll find out.

Absolutely not!

I recall my first visit to Bawstun in the late 1980s, and everyone seemed to be 
driving 240DLs. I had never seen so many Volvos before in my life in one place. 
That and the big Volvo dealership on 128 around Wakefield or Woburn where my 
step-sister-in-law ran the cellular phone business.

I had some problem with my 75 Grand Prix, I think it was the ignition switch 
got tore up when some miscreant tried to steal it.  This was in Cambridge. 
Someone told me there was this garage close by I should go to.  It was at the 
time in a pretty shitty area of East Cambridge. 

I took the car over one morning to see what they might be able to do with it. 
Whichever one I talked to was an extremely supreme asshole even by local 
standards. I just turned around and left. They might have had that radio show 
at the time, maybe that’s how whoever told me to go there knew about them. I 
had no idea but later when I heard the show I was like oh that’s that asshole I 
saw that time. Unimpressed. 

BTW the No Nukes thing:  as you came on Mass Ave across the Hahvahd Bridge from 
Bawstun into Cambridge (right beside MIT so everyone called it the MIT bridge 
or just the Mass Ave bridge) there was a sign that said “Welcome to Cambridge 
Nuclear-Free Zone.” Then a 1/4mile on up Mass Ave was a nuclear reactor. Go 
figure. 

At some point it was changed to “Domestic Violence-Free Zone” but I don’t think 
that was true either. We always debated if the hyphen belonged there. 

OBTW I had a girlfriend for a bit who had an old rusted out clapped out 70s 
Saab 99 i think it was. The ignition switch was in the console by the gear 
shifter and there was nothing below it to protect it, no shield or anything. 
One day I was riding with her, I might have been driving i don’t recall and hit 
a pothole right in Hahvahd Squayuh in front of the Coop and the switch fell 
out, the hole for the switch had completely rusted out. Hmmm well that’s 
interesting. 

She pulled over and I managed to get hold of it from underneath, it was 
dragging on the street at that point. I think she had a coat hanger in the car 
she fished into the hole and we managed to pull the switch back up into the car 
and tied it up there with a rag or something.  Field repair. Turning the key on 
and off was an adventure, I think she used some pliers or vice grips or 
something to hold it as I had recommended. 

She was leaving the country within a couple months to go on a ramble and sold 
it for a few $100. It still ran well it was just clapped out.  Never did figure 
out why Saab had that stupid design but it was like an iconic design thing. I 
guess Sweden didn’t salt roads. We did have a conversation about that but 
reached no conclusions. 

I don’t believe the Saab was equipped with any Cause Stickers.
