Any idea where to get parts for the diesel 4 cylinder? Germany sent me a very expensive/wrong size fuel filter. It is the same basic motor as an OM352 which is more common over here (in those big mercedes moving trucks, unimogs, etc) so parts sould not be hard ot find. First off there is Brax in Montana, he imports these vans and has a lot of stuff for them. No website but his number is: 406.267.3321 He is a good guy. Otherwise any competent Unimog dealer can get you parts for these vans as most of them have trading partners in europe for these kinds of things. According to the auction description it is (or was) required by German law that that type of government vehicle be replaced every X number of years regardless of mileage or condition, hence the sale. Looked great in the pictures and sold for about $10K IIRC. If anything like it had been made in the US, it would have been called a 1 ton van. it is not a Mog. Its closest relative is the O407, a small bus. I am guessing this was cheaper and more Spartan than an O407, but served a similar purpose, hauling people. At 01:59 PM 11/29/2007, you wrote: Anyone seen anything like this? I have one of these that I will sell you for significantly less! But it needs a bit more work! ;) 407 is a sales designation, its a 309 chassis, very popular and long-lived platform... Its definately not a mog! :) -Zach --- Kevin Kraly [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Anyone seen anything like this? Re: [MBZ] 1982 Mercedes 407 truck on Portland CL
Our agencies have that same requirement. Seems premature for the German trucks, but my BiL works on the emergency rigs for a few municipalities and according to him, the rigs are put out to pasture at a good time. By then, the amount of work needed to keep them on the road far exceeds replacement values.
