Before I started working on his 124 a buddy of mine’s dad who owned an import car shop maintained it. We often joked about how that car paid his college tuition. -D > On Dec 16, 2020, at 10:51 PM, Rick Knoble via Mercedes > wrote: > > Anemic at best. Not much power. Very well balanced though. My ex brother in law bought one of those (turd brown color) new in 1977. Brought it over to the house and asked me if I would service it for him (I had been maintaining his Fiat 124 sport coupe as a favor to my sister.) Took one look at it after raising the engine cover and immediately said “No!” I can’t imagine what a nightmare it must be to work on that engine. Looked like a fun car, though. I don’t recall ever driving it, but I might have. The 124 was a fun car to drive when it ran. -D > On Dec 16, 2020, at 9:35 AM, Rick Knoble via Mercedes > wrote: > > Yep. A 1974 Fiat X/19. Back in the 1980s I knew that needed a small engine, but thought it needed more power. Sorta wanted to buy a 'Fix It Again, Tony' version and try to fit a little Mazda rotary engine in it. I already had a name for it, the RX-1/9. Today, there's all sorts of aluminum block turbo four cylinders that might go nicely in the back of a X-1/9, Fiero, or MR-2. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
