Here ya' go, use at your own risk. Nice to keep this idea in your back
pocket for an emergency, not a standard practice that I would follow.

On peach parts, a guy posted a method for re-setting a heat shield for re-use.
Basically you bend it back to original shape, pushing the center part.

No seal/heat shield is going to give you lousy compression.

So will putting the pre-chamber from a #14 head into a #17 or #22 --
they don't seal tight at the seal rim at the top.

370 is fine, 270 and it won't start.

[MBZ] 603 compression test

2016-12-04 Thread Kaleb C. Striplin via Mercedes
Ok so I am back on the SDL today installing Bozio nozzles and checking
compression, this being the car we discussed last week. I have the injector
body for the first one soaking in parts cleaner while checking 1st 2 holes.
Engine is stone cold. Both #1 and 2 came up 270 dry, and #1 came up 370 wet. I
was getting ready to check #2 wet when I discovered there were no heat shields
installed on 1 2 and 6. Wow well ok then that could be a problem. I stopped
there to post this. I was not going to install the rebuilt injectors yet anyway
as I forgot to order new head shields and my rule of thumb is to replace them.
I guess at least for testing purposes I will move the heat shields I do have in
the engine around. I am sure I have some used ones around here but I do believe
you are supposed to replace them when the injectors are removed.
