Re: [MBZ] 87 124 pdfs needed
I got it working. Not sure what was the cause. I checked out everything, and everything checked out, and the last time I put humpty together, the compressor turned. Put 134a in it and we have somewhat cool. (the best you can expect with 134a crap.) I suspect Jim C was right, something with the compressor plug. Loren Somewhat cool, even in 100 degrees as long as I am on the interstate. 300D At 02:29 AM 7/7/2007, you wrote: >Some cars have the safety switches _before_ the >high-current circuitry, some after (switch in-line >with the compressor clutch). Some cars have the safety switches _before_ the high-current circuitry, some after (switch in-line with the compressor clutch). Re: [MBZ] 87 124 pdfs needed was Klima
I pulled the plug off the compressor, and it has 13+ volts at the blue/green wire. I checked the clutch coil, and it has 4.1 Ohm. Put it all back together again and when I started the car, and the compressor ran. I pulled the Klima jumper and put the relay back in and the compressor turned off and on with the push button switches. (Pressure switch jumped) Whoever did the 134a conversion only put the adapter on the low side. It is leaking at the valve. I am off to get a new set of adapters, and see if I can get a new schrader valve core for the old low side fitting. Power from the fuse goes to pin 5. Pin 7 goes to the clutch. Jump 5 to 7 and the clutch should engage if it has a path to ground (I think the low pressure switch is between the clutch and ground but I'm not sure). The clutch wiring (pin 7) thru the coil to ground should read 3 ohms if the clutch coil and wiring are okay. 2 ohms or lower indicates a shorted winding and much above 4 ohms suggests some added resistance or an open coil. I have had one coil open and one short internally. Replaced them both from old clutches. Marshall -- Marshall Booth Ph.D. Ass't Prof. (ret.) [MBZ] 87 124 pdfs needed
Would anyone be kind enough to send me the applicable pdfs so I can track down the Air Conditioning wiring on an 87 300D 124? I seem to have misplaced my cd. I out it out so I could look up A/C related stuff, but now I can't figure out where I put it. I need to trace/test the wiring from fuse to compressor, via the Klima, Push buttons, thermostat, pressure switch and safety switch. I have a good fuse in #7 position and I have 13+v at terminal 5 in the Klima socket. I have no juice downline, even with the jumper in Klima 5-7 pins. I am presuming the circuit is going from the fuse to the Klima, and is getting lost after that somewhere.
