Then go there in winter or winter/spring and see what it’s like. Like
November—April. Cold, damp cold, nasty, snow, slush, mud, sleet, rain, wind.
Lovely weather.

Nice in late spring to fall. Maybe think about 2 places, be snowbirds

Re: [MBZ] A Short New England Trip

2022-09-27 Thread Bob Rentfro via Mercedes
I’ve flown in to Portland Jetport a couple of time. I remember it being nice
and easy.

I reckon I need to make some kind of loose itinerary. We don’t necessarily
want to see/do touristy things, but we do want to “leaf peep” if Mother Nature
complies, do coastal Maine, do a non-Maine beach, and whatever else will give
Mrs. Bob a good taste of New England. She informed me today Manchester was
rated as 24th best place to retire by some website, right behind Ann Arbor ,
MI.

A neighbor mentioned an eight day bus tour they went one right before Covid.
Started in Boston and spent eight days wandering around CT, VT, ME, CT and they
said it was awesome (full disclosure, they are much less adventurous and active
than we two are).

Mrs. Bob is getting slightly excited about this trip. She has adamantly
maintained we need to take trips to places that are on our list of potential
places to live in retirement to check them out because she is really serious
about moving out of the Hubs of Hell when our elder care days are o’er.

Hard telling - it’s mainly served by Southwest as I recall, so I would think
they would be the best carrier to use for it. They used to have a direct form
Tampa, too, although I’m not sure if they still do or not.

Still a great airport to get around the area with.

If you’re going anywhere in New England, Manchester is by far one of the best
airports to fly into. Easy to get in/out of, more or less centrally located,
etc., etc. I wish it had been a choice when I traveled to the Bawstun area on
business. Any chance to miss Logan is a good one. I can always remember driving
through the Sumner tunnel while talking to my sister in law (who lived in

Re: [MBZ] A Short New England Trip

2022-09-27 Thread Floyd Thursby via Mercedes
Yes this.  Down Maine and Nuh Hampstuh are great in October.  Blue Hill
Maine, Acadia Park, ferry out to Isle La Haut, ride bikes, hike, drive
around.  Any of the little coastal towns. I think it is probably after
the leaf peepers leave.

Where to fly in to, where to visit, what to see…
Not so much big cities…autumn leaves, the beach, smaller town life.

Re: [MBZ] A Short New England Trip

2022-09-27 Thread Curt Raymond via Mercedes
Any of you are invited any time you want, let me know. With a month or so
notice I could probably even make the trip to the great northern estate.

I was just thinking what we had on hand for game meat:
goose, moose, deer, ducks (black, wood, mallard, teal), and beaver. I have a
feeling I've missed something in that list but I can't imagine what. I don't
think we have any pheasant left, the season starts in 4 weeks...
