Re: [MBZ] AOL and the list

Perfect.. well maybe not but it gets my email to me via a pop
server for free. True some of the mail comes a day or two late.
Don't know where they hide it but.. For Yahoo to get pop email it
costs $20.00. The free email is on line and you have to put up
with the look and function changing all the time and it takes
forever to do anything on line so since I have only a phone line
modem to work with and don't/can't stay on line all the time, I'm
stuck.

Yes I know there are faster ways so anyone that wants to can
supply me with sat service for free whenever they want to as that
is all that will work where I am. I'm not about to spend $60 to
$90 a month of my money for that.

I truly did not know that anyone used AOL these days. In past
experiences
it was always referred to as "AOHELL" and in my experience it was
a well

earned reputation have they improved lately?

Inquiring minds want to know since we now live in a perfect
world.

Grant,
Yes, there are many of us that still use AOL. And the news and other things
aren't as good since Ms. Huffington took it over. AOL does not like the excess
activity generated by some lists and thus throttle or even shut it down. The
"other list" had problems with AOL for those reasons. I still use it because
it's good for sending pictures, etc. It is free also an has excellent built in
security and spam controls. Most of these lists, as with this one, generate
large email files because some members seem to want to duplicate an email
string for the past month rather than just commenting with their new email.
Personally, this list recently has been rather guilty of long copied comment
responses, lack of accurate subjects lines as the content changed but not the
subject line, etc.
I guess all things internet are somewhat guilty of not being as good as they
could be if only a little effort were applied.
As for MB content, I've always used Mobil Delvac 15x40 dino in my two 617s with
no ill affects and both are high mileage.
Best wishes to all,

Anybody know why Kleb's list server doesn't play nice with AOL?
Every individual message I get comes from Mercedes-bounce and
then after a while I get cut off and have to turn it back on.
When I use the digest version there aren't any problems.
