Gerry, Peroxide in a weak solution does a superior job of attacking mold and mildew. 10:1 with H2O. Spray and scrub the surfaces over a bunch of weeks and it will take the smell, spores and active cultures. Weak enough that it does no damage at all to the fabrics or other surfaces. Safe for leather and MBTex, as well as carpet and seat belts. I have seen no damage using this for the past five years. clay > On Sep 29, 2019, at 4:21 PM, archer75--- via Mercedes > wrote: > > That's interesting about the peroxide and baking soda. > > I'm getting ready to try and remove a coating of mold from inside the '83 > 300D which apparently got enough water inside during the recent blowing rains > to make it humid enough that the whole interior was coated with white mold. > It hasn't been on a long time and wipes off with a little elbow grease fairly > easily using 409. > > Internet websites say that peroxide is the best mold killer, and a solution > of one cup of borax powder in a gallon of water, sprayed or wiped on and left > to dry will prevent future mold growth. > The only concern is whether or not the peroxide or the borax solution will > bleach or damage the blue MBtex. > Anyone had experience using these chemicals on MBtex? > Gerry ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
Re: [MBZ] Automotive Carpet Cleaner
That's interesting about the peroxide and baking soda. I'm getting ready to try and remove a coating of mold from inside the '83 300D which apparently got enough water inside during the recent blowing rains to make it humid enough that the whole interior was coated with white mold. It hasn't been on a long time and wipes off with a little elbow grease fairly easily using 409. Internet websites say that peroxide is the best mold killer, and a solution of one cup of borax powder in a gallon of water, sprayed or wiped on and left to dry will prevent future mold growth. The only concern is whether or not the peroxide or the borax solution will bleach or damage the blue MBtex. Anyone had experience using these chemicals on MBtex?
