Eternabond is a common RV roof repair item. If you want to buy
locally, check an RV supply store.

IIRC I bought a 20 foot roll on Amazon, needed about 12 feet for the sunroof.
I've used a few pieces for other Red Green repairs around the house.

Seam Sealer: This sounds like what I need, except it does not mention UV
resistance:

ACDelco Medium Body Seam-Sealing Compound is a high performance seam and
joint sealer with excellent adhesion to most surfaces. It is water
resistant, stays permanently flexible, and withstands weathering,
oxidation, salt water, gasoline, and most solvents. This product is safe to
use on automotive paint. ACDelco Medium Body Seam-Sealing Compound should
not be applied near catalytic convertors and mufflers, due to extreme heat
conditions. For Professional Use Only, Not for Retail Sale.

However, the reviews on Amazon are rather negative.

Regular household silicone is acidic (smells like vinegar) and will promote
rust. Marine silicone should be OK rut wise, but hard to remove.

Seam sealer is what I would try. If it's not available you might try black
windshield bedding compound available at Autozone and probably other FLAPS.
It's close to sun-proof, it sticks to metal and glass but can be removed much
easier than caulking of various sorts if it doesn't work.
Good luck,
Gerry

Thanks Randy, I'll check that out. Makes sense, but is it UV resistant?

With valve covers, the engine heat likely keeps them dry and the oil
bath probably prevents rust as well.

It's a carrier in the silicone sealant, but I haven't noticed an issue on it

I tried silicone sealant on the sunroof on the SLC - didn't work, even with
considerable cleaning of the adjacent surfaces. If I had another sunroof to
deal with, I'd MIG it closed.

If pretty isn't a real consideration, consider Henrys roof seal , It comes
in black and white.. the white version might not look "to bad".
They also make a tape to go under the paint on roof seal, if you have
extreme rust holes to deal with. The stuff is really tough, it will hold up
in Arizona summer heat with roof temps above 160 F... so might work for you.
Comes in quarts, 1/2 gal. and gallons.. or 5 gallon buckets... [in case you
really like it and want to do the whole car.. haha]
Home Depot, Lowes, etc carry it.
