Re: [MBZ] D-Jet Injectors

2018-03-17 Thread clay monroe via Mercedes
They are not really “rebuilt” as the things are pretty solid state and do not
come apart. The process to renovate is to remove rust, put a fresh hose on
top, and make sure the thing will squirt close to spec. Then they spray paint
the lower part. Failures in my car have been to the plastic body where the
power attached. After 40+ years it cracks and begins to spew fuel. With new
units, the plastic should be new and each unit fully bench tested at the
factory, not just hooked to a fuel hose on some table in China

[MBZ] D-Jet Injectors

2018-03-15 Thread clay monroe via Mercedes
The stench of petrol is coming from under the hood of the SL. I looked and
there are two very leaky injectors. I am not going to be driving, should the
car decide to make itself on fire.

Anybody know where to find 000 078 34 23? I need at least a pair. Bosch
would be bestest

Re: [MBZ] D-Jet injectors

2013-04-16 Thread David Bruckmann
I may have missed your answer the last time I asked you this, but out of
curiosity: why are you replacing the D-Jet injectors? They generally don't
fail. At most they should need a shot of injector cleaner or something to clean
the pintle. It's the mechanical injectors that actually wear out.

There are new (non-Bosch) drop-in alternatives available. I can dredge up the
info if you're curious.

There are other things on D-Jet systems that fail (the foil diaphragm in the
MAP sensor, the TPS wiper assembly), but the injectors are no more likely to
die than L-Jet injectors.
