$125 for the box with thermal printer, hand held doohickee, serial cable to the printer, manuals, and hook up to the engine cable. The cigar lighter power cable was missing. Popped it onto fleabay with a dirt low price, considering what the other folks are asking. Has hardware programing in EPROM, I am thinking because the new stuff is USB and flash. $700 for the individual software packages. This thing will be much gooder, in that you could probably source the greenboard stuff at old shops or online for much less. What's interesting is that I can't find a thing about this in a google search. I see a lot about ECMs, cables and software, but nothing about scan tools. Hmm. Considering that DDC is *very* proud of their parts and diagnostic tools, I have to believe it's worth some bucks. Just out curiosity, what did you pay for it? DDEC is the electronic control system for Detroit Diesel engines. There are several iterations of DDEC, however, it's been a good 10 years since I've worked with it, and at that time they were coming out with DDEC-II. You should be able to find some reference sales on eBay, I would think. If not, look around commercial truck web sites that carry tools, as they would have something like this, I would think. DDEC, while not just controlling the engine, also provides some serious troubleshooting and diagnostic information. DDEC-II allowed changes to engine operating parameters, too.
