That is a matter of perspective. It uses prior German engineering (190DT) to 
overcome
problems with later German engineering (W124 EDS system). Better? Above my pay 
grade to answer.
More reliable? Yes. Easier for the backyard mechanic to troubleshoot? Yes.

are doing. It has also had the AMG Dave/GSXR turbo mod. Meaning the waste gate

I have seen both of these in the PnP.   While the Kia has shown great increases 
in build and quality.  The Mercedes cars no longer are quality examples we know 
and drive.  They have become on par with a Hyundai or  Kia of comparable 
vintage.  Sad truth, which is why very few of us will see a Mercedes younger 
than the W124 reach the exalted million mile mark.

Depending upon the vintage, they rival what is coming out of Mercedes factories 
in the A and C classes.   Lower end of the Korean selection.  Hyundaia-eh makes 
the top end stuff that competes with E and S class sedans.  The Koreans make a 
good approximation to the M class suv.  Probably better build quality though

Actually they're not bad cars, just different. Like any other vehicle, they
