Re: [MBZ] Hey Jaime you’re the expert I think
Hm... despite having developed and tested that system for several years of my life, I'm having trouble remembering the details! (I've worked on too many in the last 15 years since) but lets try. If the position information at the bottom of the map is showing 9 satellites, then its probably accurate. Does it change sometimes, and start out with 0 and work its way up to 9 after running a bit (from a cold, overnight start)? The lat/lon shown there isn't raw GPS data, but an output of the dead reckoning module which takes into consideration speed of 4 wheels, gyro, and matching of GPS position to the map data (sticking you to a road). If you drive, does the position and vehicle direction on the map move or is it completely stuck? Its reasonably possible you have a hardware issue which is causing the DR module to not do its thing. In the system menu there is an option to delete all the user data. Try that (you'll lose all your presets, etc). Also keep in mind that if the car was woken up from a dead state for a long time, it might need to recalibrate. That just involves driving around a bit, ideally city blocks with 90 degree turns... shouldn't take more than a few miles. Post a picture of the 5 blocks you're talking about. Is it not phone signal strength? Call 1-800-4mercedes. Might be able to connect to a tech who knows what's wrong. Or better yet - move UP to DC and broaden our tax base. [MBZ] Hey Jaime you’re the expert I think
This “new” 09S550 I got to fix up has a quirk in the COMAND Navi system. It doesn’t seem to know where it is. Looks to be stuck someplace up around DC where Pennsylvania Ave meets 95/495.That’s what shows on the home screen. I think that’s where the car lived, more or less. I put in my home address and it figured out where that was and how to get here from DC, but it thinks it is not here. It says it can see 9 sats but thinks it’s located at those DC coordinates. There are 5 little boxes at the top right of the screen making me think something is buggered with it, not sure what that’s about. I know, RTFM (which I managed to find online somewhere as the actual paper manuals were missing, MB doesn’t go back that far it seems with what is online) but I would think once it booted up the system would know where it is. Is there some way to force it to rethink its status? Or is it truly buggered somehow? --FT Sent from iFōn ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Hey Jaime what do you think about this car?
Other than the auto box and color (inside and out) its just like mine. If it were closer I'd consider getting it and putting my manual trans in it which would cure my problems... Oh well. I need to stop by Sears and pick up some long allen sockets (which is something I just ought to have anyway) to make tightening the head on my 240D easier... -Curt Date: Thu, 1 Aug 2013 06:20:07 -0400 From: Jaime Kopchinski jaime...@gmail.com To: Mercedes Discussion List mercedes@okiebenz.com Subject: Re: [MBZ] Hey Jaime what do you think about this car?
