My cousin owns the general store in Stockholm, Maine (population 800 something) and says a lot of the older folks are nervous to go to Florida for the winter. Arostook county has very few COVID cases, but a lot of the snowbirds spend the summer in cottages that would never make it through a northern Maine winter.He says some of the folks that have real houses have laid in firewood and are going to try it. When the engine blew in my 26kmi Chevy in September, the flatbed driver took me and my shorthaired pointer in the cab, no masks. Around here, we had a big upswing in boating and SxS ORVs, and I believe off road motorcycles. Dealership floors were devoid of boats nationwide. Do you want to take a vaccine that was rushed through development and testing in 10 months, a vaccine for which the manufacturers have been granted exemption from liability? Maybe if you're in a high risk category due to age or other health issues, you feel that it is the lower risk option. If you're younger and healthy, maybe you take a wait and see position. I have yet to hear how the AK snowbirds are going to survive. Most came back with their home on wheels, but will not be able to go south, since Canada will not open borders until next year. None of the big pharma are able to produce in quantities required to have statistically significant impact. UK was all excited about maybe using their 5 million doses, which could show up late spring 2021, to infect a couple million frail folks (two dose). Maybe when there are half a dozen billion doses available, we will know if the cures are worse than the plague. That should be long after the WRD has swept through the population and herd immunity is common.
