When I was a grad student, Shirley and I checked into a motel in the west-Texas town of Alpine to be greeted by a moth that was about 4 inches long and had a wingspan of about 6 inches. The room was dimly lit and I thought it was a humming bird at first. Anyone ever witness this? Witness what?
