Re: [MBZ] Look at these holes in the roof

2012-01-29 Thread Hendrik Fay
The main purpose of a sunroof is to separate the peasants from the
better people.
Seriously though, they sorta caught on in Europe because they have long
autumns and springs, with little sunlight. So opening a hole in the roof
made em feel better and let more light into the cabin. Remember the big
webasto roofs put onto the roundies et al?
I actually use the tilt function on mine quite a bit, as it lets the air
out nicely but I don't open it much, perhaps now and again on a gloomy day.

I agree, even though most of my cars have them. Given the option, I
would
order without. I figure, if the windows roll down, that's good
enough. If

more air than that is needed, a motorcycle might be a better mode of
transport. ;-) hee hee

Never use mine.
Too scared it woun't close when the rain comes.
Actually the sun roof was an expensive fall-out from the Citroens CV 2's
and Fiats 500's roll-back tops. They saved sheet metal.

Well, if you never open it, you can be sure it won't close!

Like everything else on the car, it needs to be exercised to keep
working. If never used the special grease gets all gummed up on the
rails and the motor probably locks up too.

Wilton, when you find the perfect W211 diesel and sell me your 350SDL,
I hope you get the sunroof in the latter unstuck first! ;)
