[MBZ] MB Sales

2010-07-07 Thread LarryT

Howdy ---

Thought ya'll might be interested in some MB car sales data -
(I rounded #'s to save me time)
2000 - 206K
2001 - 207k
2002 - 213k
2003 - 219k
2004 - 222k
2005 - 224k
2006 - 248k
2007 - 252k
2008 - 225kSmart - 26k
2009 - 191kSmart - 15k

Vehicles sold in 2009 (some - I don't want to type them all)
C Class - 52K
E Class - 43K
S Class - 11K
SL Class - 4k
M Class - 26k
GLK Class - 22k

Re: [MBZ] MB Sales

2010-07-07 Thread Dieselhead
I wonder how that compares to the 80-85 time period. THey sold a lot
of Diesels in the 83-85 time period. I think it was 1983 that I went
to the first MBCA meeting of the season, and everyone there had a
Diesel! they were all fairly new, (80-83) except mine.

And for 20 years most of them were on the road, then were neglected,
simply because they were old. Reliable doesn't count.

Re: [MBZ] MB Sales

2010-07-07 Thread LarryT
I know what you mean - my son now has the 78 240D I rebuilt 50K miles ago -
he was moving it around the driveway to rep for washing and I was pleasantly
surprised to hear it start before it even made 1 revolution! I barely
heard the starter - then it fired and ran smoothly.

At the time I was rebuilding it I was really nervous - it was my 1st diesel
rebuild and my memory was getting worse so I had to keep excellent notes and
be very organized. Fortunately it appears everything is holding together
really well. Hmmm.. maybe I should ask for it back? ;-) Just turned
312K mi.

Yep, I suspect there's plenty of owners on this list that will agree with
you about diesel longevity and desirability being at the top of the list
where they're concerned.

Take care --
