[MBZ] Mystery Tank?
Not military - fuel? I was looking at a VIN decoder for my S500, and I happened to see in the accessory parts section a tank that could be installed over the spare tire, or so it would seem. I looked the part up in the EPC and it comes up as a tank for around $100 or so. I know they used to sell tanks for the diesels that would go in the spare tire well to extend the car's range, but I find it difficult to imagine they would sell a tank holding gasoline in this area. Re: [MBZ] Mystery Tank?
Yes, Mercedes has (had?) an accessory fuel can available for all models, but 1408900111 is not it. That is to hold the tool kit. The fuel can wasn't a 140 specific part. I only have accessory info for the e-class (124,210,211) on my computer. Ah, here it is...after some searching the part # to fit the larger 140 wheel is, I believe B6 758 0045! 15 wheel, 9L (2 gal). You would also need a mounting kit for it too I think, not sure the #. For when 26.5 gal is just not enough! (Note: this was not to connect to the main tank, just a small portable metal can to fit within the wheel rim) On 5/7/2013 1:05 PM, Dan Penoff wrote: Not military - fuel? Re: [MBZ] Mystery Tank tools?
Not sure why the call it a tank, may just be an odd translation? Perhaps tool insert holder may be more apt? Anyway the way I read that is that the tool holder insert is sold both with and without tools. For instance you may have the tools but the holder is not that flash, so you can buy just the holder. Anyway it's a bit more fancy that the old school tool roll. Hendrik who has old school roll in ze car On 08/05/13 03:18, Dan Penoff wrote: Makes sense, but why would they call it a tank?
